Nice find. Between SPPs and Zonads beauties and now this one all I can say is WOW. Count me in on the list of bidders.

You don't see very many brockages after 1996, when the Canadian cent was returned to a round shape. I would think that coin would received some spirited bidding at an auction. If, or when, you decide to sell, you may want to consider consigning it to the Bells at a Coin Expo auction - you would pay considerably less in fees than selling on ebay.

If I were to have it graded / attributed would PCGS be a good choice? I believe ICCS doesn't do errors?
I think I'll likely be holding on to this coin because I don't think I could ever replace it.

PCGS and CCCS would grade it no problem! Someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe ICCS would even grade this particular ERROR coin.
I agree with you o-train...the coin would be hard to replace and keeping it is not a bad idea. That's what I would do if it were my coin.

ICCS has not graded errors in a very long time, I doubt they would do so now. That is, unless, you go beyond the Canadian decimal series and into tokens. Brian Cornwell is a bit of a token expert himself, and grades errors on Canadian tokens. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290966965012

Thanks. I think it will be going to PCGS.
Am I understanding correctly that the hammer die creates the reverse image and the anvil die creates the obverse image? I was reading in another thread that obverse brockages are more common and occur when the hammer die sticks to a struck coin. Reverse brockages occur when the planchet fails to eject but the next planchet is fed anyways.

Quote: Thanks. I think it will be going to PCGS. Good choice. That is where my errors of similar magnitude go. With PCGS, be prepared to pay up to $75 or more for certification of an error by itself. It is best to find a coin dealer who submits regularly to PCGS (like Sean Isaacs at Alliance Coins) or lump together an error submission with other error collectors, it gets a bit cheaper in bulk.
