5 holes left to fill with xf-au coins. A half dozen upgrades needed.
Have two goldies but haven't been able to locate a loose page..
I really don't care that the 7070 album is unrepresentative of some advanced collecting desires. It's a fun and challenging project in its own right. I like coins in albums where they are easy to look at, handle and swap out on a whim.

I have one for problem coins and well worn examples. I use it as a educational tool to explain a large chunk of US coins and types. I purposely put dateless type one and two Buffalo nickels and SLQ so that I can focus on their differences.

Thank you, Debrajc !
I assumed <incorrectly> that because the 7070 album is not currently available from the Dansco website, that the gold page would not be either.

I was able to get the more modern bicentennial page and the gold page for both my 7070's to give them a bit of an update.

I have a 7070 with nothing in it. I also have the Whitman type set books which are much more comprehensive and I only need 10 coins to finish it off.

Kinda surprised by all the interest in the 7070's today.
I bought my first 7070 book 23 years ago just for fun and started filling it up little by little.
Today it's 85.4% complete. Now when I look in my records and see what I paid for them, compared to their value today, I'm glad I bought them years ago before the prices on some of them jumped so high.
Anyway, on the survey, where is the choice for 75%-100%?

I guess I have what might be called a 7070+ album. I have an actual album that is completely filled, including the gold page, and all the coins are actually in the album (I do have some better slabbed examples that I store separately). But, once I decided to photograph and digitize my album for online display, I couldn't resist tweaking it to digitally add holes for some additional types that I happened to have examples of. So far I've digitally added the following:
  • All three types of Three Cent Silver Pieces (instead of just one example)

  • Liberty Seated quarter with Arrows & Rays

  • Heraldic Eagle Half Dollar

  • Liberty Seated half dollar with Arrows & Rays

  • Sacagawea Golden Dollar

  • Presidential Golden Dollar

  • America the Beautiful Quarter

  • Westward Journey Nickels

  • Lincoln Bicentennial Cents

  • Lincoln Shield Cent

  • Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle

  • Indian Head (Type II) Gold Dollar

If I ever manage to pick up examples of an early Half Dime, dime and quarter, as well as a $3 gold piece, I'll digitally add those as well, but I doubt I'll be able to afford decent examples anytime soon. Ditto (and then some) for pre-1800 coinage.

I'm not!

Back when I got into seriously collecting coins 3-4 years ago, I had never heard of a 7070 album. But the more I got into coins, the more I realized how many types of U.S. coins had been minted over the years about which I was completely ignorant. I mean, I knew about nickels as far back as the Buffalo and Liberty ("V) varieties, but I had never heard of a Three-Cent Nickel or a Half Dime before. Or Seated Liberty coinage, for that matter. We used to have Half Cents?

Well, I decided what I really wanted to do was to start putting together some sort of "type" collection, rather than focusing my efforts and limited resources on something more focused like a complete set of Lincoln Cents or Mercury dimes (not that there's anything wrong with doing that, mind you, but it didn't interest me as much as the thought of owning one of every major type of U.S. coin). The only problem was that I still had no idea how many different types of U.S. coins had been produced over the years.

A little Google searching led me to a little website called coincommunity.com where there was an ongoing discussion thread discussing the Dansco 7070 album and asking everybody to show pictures of their type coins. And, best of all, the first page of the thread actually listed all the coins that were in the album! Finally, I had a starting point for my type collection. It didn't occur to me to actually go out and buy a 7070 album for awhile, but I finally did since it seemed like a nifty way to store and display the collection I was putting together.

As I mentioned above, I have now filled and surpassed my 7070 album, but I still love to pull it out and look through it and also still occasionally update the coins in the album as time and budget permits. It's not a perfect album by any means (I still don't get why the album includes both the Copper-Nickel and the Bronze Indian Head cent, which have identical designs despite being made of slightly different alloys, but doesn't include significantly different designs like the Arrows & Rays Liberty Seated coinage), but it's a fantastic way to see, collect and appreciate the 200+ year history of U.S. coinage.

Just recently traded an ounce of silver for a used 7070 album. Seems to be a bit of an older example as the newest coin slots are the bicentennial coins. All in all I believe I am 34/76 but most of the holes that are left are the older seated liberties/busts. Someday though I will complete my project!

I've been waiting for one of these to come out for over a year now. In the meantime, I broke down and bought a Whitman 20th century album. It's nice but it doesn't cover the older US coins which may actually be a good thing right now as I am trying to stick to a budget.
