Best ever road find today!
I walked home from the office for lunch and saw something golden shining in the sun. From a distance it looked coinlike but I thought it was probably a bottle top. When I got near, I found a 2008 £2 coin!
It had no obvious recent damage and was of the normal design (Standing on the Shoulders of Giants).

Quote: I found a 2008 £2 coin! Awesome stuff Rob That is a I have never picked up a £2 ..... While still on the subject of best ever road finds , I got quite a lot today ... ... it all started in the main road were I spotted the 10p , it must have been there for a few hours as its a busy road and it had been driven over a bit and was damaged especially below ELI . The best thing about the 10p was that its a 2012 10p! A few minutes later on an adjoining road I spotted a round yellow coin on the yellow line and for a moment I thought it was 10 euro cent only to find myself looking at a year 2000 £1 , obverse and reverse were fine but part of the edge is damaged ...and then came the pennies ...which gradually got worse as I came across them one after another - the 2014 penny (top right in picture) was perfect , the 2008 Ironside design penny (bottom left) had some scratches but was good and the 1981 penny was pretty beat up

Today, on the same thoroughfare as yesterday (a few feet from were I picked up yesterdays 10p ) I got the 2002 2p on the left, it probably was there a day or two and then a short while later I came across the 2000 penny with a mangled reverse .......

While going past a low rent bar across the Shell garage I saw this poor little 2004 dated 5p by the road , it had been driven over a bit (see images below) and judging by the looks , it had been there for a few days.... This little 5p was all lonely, dirty, abandoned , being driven over and scorched by the sun while literally a few feet away people were inside enjoying cold lagers, apple and strawberry ciders , but good thing that all changed when I chanced upon it and it now has a lovely new home

While walking past one of the High schools I came across this beauty (shown below) stranded on the road.I figure this 1995 2p was there a day or two and the reverse had the most damaged. Its not to bad in terms of looks ....

Cupronickel 5p`s rocked today ! First was the 2006 5p (top left in picture) ...I came across it on the road along the park I walk past regularly , it must have been there days as it has been driven over quite a bit , next came the 2002 5p (bottom left) which was in perfect condition and then the icing on the cake was the 1975 Two pence . The 2p looked as if it had been exposed to the sun for a while , the damage was on the reverse and judging by how minor it was and the the coins position on the road it was driven over maybe once or twice and then missed until I spotted it .

Two days ago I put a bent penny in my pocket because I felt like it. Guess what I found coming back: This is my first road coin in a long time. It can't have been there long since I didn't see it on my way out and it was on top of the leaves. Beaver side up and no damage to the queen side. it's hard to photo new nickels in artificial lighting.

Quote: This is my first road coin in a long time Oh wow and a very nice one at that ! That beaver looks like it could make a nice pet ... Quote: it's hard to photo new nickels in artificial lighting. Try using a LED light like the one on cell phones or LED torches and dont place the coin were the light is brightest instead place it on the outer edge of the light , then disable flash on your camera and the pictures will come out better especially the lustre....

Fridays are fast becoming good days for road coins ....today while taking shortcut behind a main thoroughfare I saw a small round thing then doubled back and wondered if it really was a coin (given its small size ), then it hit me ......1 euro cent ! I picked it up and found myself looking at a beat up ,sun burned and scratched Marianne on the obverse ... it was a French one !

Gotta love Fridays for road coins ,I got another one today I am really liking crossing roads after todays result ....the clouds were very dark and gathering fast, a downpour was imminent and then out of the corner of my eye near the yellow line I saw something with an interesting color which I kicked slightly and it sounded familiar ! While not terribly damaged , it had small scuff marks on 3 corners .... By the time the rain sprinkled me I was taking this beauty home and a little wetness didnt matter ......good things tend to come on wet days

Not British coins but they do have the Queen on them! These are three aluminium 1-cent East Caribbean coins that I picked up during my Caribbean trip before Christmas. The left-hand and middle coins were from the main street in Castries, St Lucia. The right-hand coin was found on a beach in Antigua!
