I should expect $45000, I know this is alot of money still but its a massive hit to take if its worth nearly double that. There are cheaper options available, but some of these places aren't as well known or don't attract a strong clientele. So this could result in the item being sold for less then it is worth, which kind of negates the lesser fees. Report this Post to the Staff

dcoin Valued Member Australia 191 Posts	Posted 07/07/2014 05:30 am Auction houses advertise rates for sellers but if you have an expensive item they will cut that rate or make it zero (assuming they charge a buyers premium). I believe numisbid charges 10% commission and no buyers premium in contrast to the above poster who suggested 15%. My Two Cents worth a coin that rare doesn't need to be slabbed and personally I would look at Baldwin, heritage, noble or IAG auctions, they probably sell the most $50k+ australian coins. serial Pillar of the Community Australia 539 Posts	Posted 07/08/2014 08:18 am yeh Baldwin, heritage, nobles have been ripping people of on commissions for a while now they claim to get better results but then take 40% of the value of the coin in buyers/sellers cost I don't think that they would get a 30% premium on the coin compared to Numisbid hell get it slabbed and sell it on ebay and I think you would still end up with more money. but if you sell it in the uk you will be cutting your throat on this one. much more buyers in Australia for a coin like this with the cash to spend also this coin is expensing because it is rare! the next year , not so much. if they find a hoard then you are looking at 1/10 of what it is worth now. if it was me I would sell this then buy $50k worth of gold but in the end its your coin your choice Report this Post to the Staff
