Don't fry bacon or sausage in the nude.

1. Yes. Buy suits for your sausage and bacon. Fiber in the diet is good for you.

2. Recognize that everyone enjoys their hobby differently and be prepared to accept that. If collector Ima Labeljunkie loves the pretty colors of slab labels and Ima Slabhater thinks its stupid paying more money for a different colored label, then both collectors are right or wrong depending on what Ima N. Overallgoodguy thinks. In other words - let others enjoy the fun they get in their own manner, in their own way, spending their own money.

3. There is no such thing as "THE complete" set. There are always minor variations that can be had. Some people don't include the 1922 LWC as part of "THE" set b/c its an error, while others say it HAS to be part of the set b/c its in the Red Book and in most albums. However, the 1955 DDO cent may/may not be included by some of the people on both sides of the 1922 issue. See point 1.

4. Some people don't like others referring to Lincoln Cents as pennies since they are clearly marked as "Cents." The same goes for the "WInged LIberty" dime being called a "Mercury Dime." So far there have only been three nation's economies (not the US - obama did that one ) devastated over this issue (and 42 Bigfoot-related attacks/deaths). Refer to point number 1.

5. There are tables online of the errors for specific coins. There are also many varieties for a lot of specific dates. As an example - look up all the varieties of just 1971 DDO Kennedy halves:
http://varietyvista.com/12%20Kenned...201971-D.htm
and:
http://varietyvista.com/Variety%20M...94.htm#_1971

6. Typically when people mention errors in a set, they mean the ones visible with a 10X loupe or good old God-given optical orbits.

7. Have FUN - its what it is about.

8. Consider collecting Ikes so jbuck will be your best friend.
- seriously... Ikes are a good modern starter set that include silver. Its not too difficult to "finish" including the proofs. It will give you a sense of accomplishment and valuable hands-on experience in putting together a set. What you learn will help with other wise decisions for future sets.

9. Franklins make a good starter silver set, as to Roosevelt dimes. Neither set have key pieces that will cost your right arm and/or your firstborn child.

10. Read about your choices and learn what else is out there to be had. As an example to the Franklin when I learned there are more than one years the Franklin Bug Bunny error was made - I started looking for them - for the fun of it. Only the 1955 is listed in most reference books.Best-Piece-Of-Advice-Gets-Roll-Of-Wheat-Cents

11. Play the game jbuck (graciously) hosts here:

It will open your eyes to MANY different areas, bargains people can get, and paid values for coins.

12. Use numimedia,.com online price guide and check ebay listings for actual prices coins are selling for.

13. If this post wins - pick a young collector on CCF and send them the wheaties. Encourage youth!

14. Ignore triskaidekaphobia.

Never buy stolen coins (or coins you suspect to be stolen). It's just as bad as stealing them yourself.

I know this contest is over, but no one said "Buy the Book before the coin." Has to be on this list.

Ok, sorry for the delay, I forgot to check back on this. I'll announce the winner either tonight or tomorrow morning when I get up... lots of good answers, some strange, and some really not making much sense considering logic, or context. Younze (you all/you guys/yall for most people) have until when I pick the winner to put your answer in, so hurry up.

I think that the member T-BOP won, I agree that it is good to focus on one coin series, instead of having a bit of everything.

Can you send me your address?

Thank you all for your answers. Could someone, perhaps, tell me though what the posts about sausage and weightlifting was? I still don't understand. I looked in the dictionary, and nothing is there. Also, if anyone wants to win any other wheat cents, here is this thread.

I know I'm probably late, being new to the community, and well....literally found my "first coin" last night to which I "Caught the bug" for coin collecting. However, just wanted to share one thing that I live by. And although it may not be coin related. I still think it's important. In life and marriage - keep God center!

Thanks
