Yes, Albert - definitely Wang Mang. The raised line radiating outward at about 3:30 turns out to be crud. Underneath, the character on the right side matches images I have looked up.
I forgot to post size & weight - 23mm and 2.77gm. That makes it a bit heavy compared to 1 cash coins I could find weights for, but too light and too small for 5 cash.
Still, I have a rough indication of where this critter places on the time line.
