Fingerprint Error On 1999 Penny? - Coin Community Forum

JenfromMS New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 07/06/2018 7:07 pm Okay, so I'm looking through my pocket change and see a fingerprint on this 1999 penny. Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 75769 Posts	Posted 07/06/2018 7:49 pm A oily fingerprint ISN'T an error. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). We have natural oil from our fingers, and when it get on a coin and left there, the oil eats away at the metal, causing damage to the coins surfaces. Errers and Varietys.
