Appears to be post strike damage, not a legit D mint mark alone in a field. Divot caused by hit pushed up some metal.

I am finding it difficult on these older wheat pennies to determine DDD and DD/MD because of wear. Thank you everyone!

I refer to that as metal movement. It was flat, and something hit that area a created a wave. It was done after the strike happened. If it were a mint error, it would be raised as high as the other devices on the coin. Just coin damage. It is still a wheat coin, so add it to your wheat pile:
