1994 D/S Penny Repunched Mint Mark / RPM Error?

STKRollHunter New Member United States 49 Posts	Posted 04/02/2021 4:59 pm I know this post is a long shot but am I looking at a D/S penny here? I see the top of the S swirl and the bottom serif on the west side of the d and the swoop which connects the top and bottom in the center of the D. You can also make out the very top of the S above the D. Am I crazy here? Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/02/2021 8:06 pm In order for something to be a RPM before 1990, the area would need to be raised and show a punch into the die. Why into the die? An incuse mark on the die, will leave a raised mintmark/rpm/rpms. It needs to be raised, not just a color on the surface of the coin. Not the two punching into the die that was not where the mint worker wanted the punch to be: Very tedius work. Note his glasses? So the tap into the punch will add an incuse mark, leaving a raised mark on the coin. (dies are negatives, coins are a positive) Edited by coop 04/02/2021 8:07 pm Report this Post to the Staff

1994 D/S Penny RPM Error?
