I'm pretty satisfied with the Morgan's I've collected so far but I would really like to eventually buy a 1903-O in MS-63.A nice cherry picked one with clean fields and face.I don't know it's the only one I really would want at the moment.I think they were really rare until some bags of them were found somewhere.
Theres a coin show coming to town in August maybe I can trade off some stuff that doesn't mean that much to me that I really don't collect.Have you ever been thinking about your next coin?Like if you came into some extra cash I'm going to get such and such a coin.Whats yours!

I have more than one coin I really would like to get:
a) Walking Libertys - 1934S and/or 1935S
b) Type II Gold Dollar
c) A $3 Gold coin

I would love to get a 1486 thaler, however that is way out of my price range. More realistically my stretch coins will probably be:
17 Kreuzer (Franz 1) 1751-1765
1 Austrian Thaler (Franz II HRE) 1806
1 Austrian Thaler (Franz 1 Austrian Empire) 1806
20 Euro Uncharted Universe Black Hole 2022

I am an opportunist, collecting across the whole spectrum of numismatics, ancient to modern. If an excellent value for money coin becomes available, I will always seriously consider it. That has been my numismatic mantra for more than four decades.

A 1794 silver Dollar or Half Dollar
to go along side my 1795 Year Set .
But a Lamborghini , Ferrari, or house upgrade
Would certainly get in the way !

The first coin that came to my mind was the US Trade dollar. Therefore, I want to have such a coin in my collection. |

The Morgan dollar used to be there until I got one as a gift. Maybe some of the 20th century French silvers. AFAIK some gold coins, even of circulating types, are sold at close to metal value; if I had the level of cash to do it I'll definitely try that. But most gold coins aren't common enough that the limiting factor is price; there's the modern Russian gold St. George, maybe the Soviet chervonetz (of the 1980s variety), and at a stretch maybe the American Gold Eagle. I guess it would be nice to get a chervonetz to fill up my Soviet type set. Though it would be quite a cheat; the 1923 version is rare and the 1980s restrikes didn't circulate. |
