I am late to the party, but my 1st instinct in looking at the posted coin is that it is fake. Something just looks off to me.

In hand maybe you can see the die markers and the slight C/C.

I agree, but the OP example does not have the G in God filled in for it to be a VAM 4. There is also some die scratches that can be checked in hand. A die scratch up to the top of the W in We and to the bottom or the R in Trust. See photos below-

Maybe the filled G is a late die state. The full coin images show one without the filled G but with the die scratches, and a more worn example with filled G but without die scratches. I'm definitely not a VAM guy though, I just look at pictures. Here's one https://coins.ha.com/itm/morgan-dol...bnail-071515 without filled G, without die scratches, and with a crack from rim through OF. Other examples don't show any crack. So they polished off the die crack before the filled G formed?

No shipping info, yet. I expect it may be on the way in a day or so.

The look of the coin and the price you paid for it tells you everything you need to know about the coin.

Maybe they haven't shipped it because they saw this thread and are rethinking the sale (?).

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Grade and authenticity hard to argue, but they dumb amaze me. I shouldn't even be offering opinions on coins like this.

Coin is in hand. I have attached photos from my (cheap) cell phone camera. Based on date position/slant and mintmark, this may match VAM-6. The NFC chip scans accurately (still no garantee). Do you think XRF could be attempted through the slab? I have a friend that operates a LCS and could take it to him. I have three days to contact the company for a return. Thanks for your continued expertise on this subject!

I still don't like the looks of it. Counterfeits are often composed of the correct metal alloy so the XRF doesn't mean much.

Why would it sell for $50 when it's worth 3x or 4x that much if genuine?

EDIT: PCGS has certified counterfeits in the past. Several years ago there were some on the market they bought back.

VAM 6

OP

Genuine

The genuine example has more wear than the OP, so the genuine may look a little thicker. The CC position appear to be correct.

I am leaning that the coin is genuine, but I still do not like the rounded numbers in the date. The date on a genuine Morgan has a flatness on the top of the numbers.

I took this old gal to my LCS. The XRF (as compared to a known genuine Morgan in a PCGS slab of similar generation) indicates that this coin is silver. So, if this counterfeit, it is composed of silver. Given that the certification numbers on either side of this one indicate submissions by the auction house where I purchased, I'm concluding that it is genuine.

I'm still not sure why the PCGS certification page says this coin is in someone's registry set. I'm guessing that is a mistake of some sort. Can't get them to respond to two inquiries.

I don't know much about registry sets but can't somebody sell their coin and just leave it in their set? I don't think PCGS polices this any better than they do their population counts.
