hmmm.... about the circulation numbers, should I be getting the UNC sets? My only reason right now is because they might go up in value due to the less mintage due to the economy. But, in a way now I feel I should cancel my 2 UNC sets and go buy a silver proof...

What should I do?

Also, to my understanding, the only silver ones in the silver proof is the dime, quarter and half... or are there any others?

Well......here is the 2008 Silver Proof Set.

Quote:
The 2008 United States Mint Silver Proof Set™ contains 14 coins, each bearing the "S" mint mark of the United States Mint at San Francisco. Included in this set are four Presidential $1 Coins honoring past Presidents of the United States: James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren; the final five quarters from the 50 State Quarters® Program: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii; and the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Kennedy half-dollar, and Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea. Distinguishing this collection are the dime, half-dollar and five State Quarters, all of which are produced in lustrous 90% silver.

Now, the 2009 Silver Proof Set will contain 6 Terr. Qtrs. in Silver instead of like the last 10 years with only 5 St. Qtrs., with everything else remaining the same EXCEPT that this year there will also be 4 Lincoln Cents contained within that will be 95% Copper ! (total of 18 coins)
Same with the Uncirculated Sets....they will also contain more coins than ANY other Uncirculated Set before in U.S. Mint history. (36 coins)
As far as "future values".......well....that's a crap shoot !.....you just never know......generally, I would think that all of these Sets would hold, at the very least, their "issue price" !.....the new Lincoln Copper Cent contained in these (and only these Sets plus the Special Lincoln Set) IMHO, should warrant a decent value to them !

I have a subscription for 10 sets clad and 5 sets silver.
If they seem to be slow sellers I reorder extras at the end of August.
Got really burnt on the 2000 sets but have done well so far on the 2008 sets at $60 each on ebay.

If I can afford it

1 Silver Proof set
1 Clad Proof set
3 Unc. Mint sets

1 of the mint sets would be to crack open for the Cents. Now that is something I thought I would never do, cracking open a mint set just seems like sacrilege to me.

I know this will be weird to say.......
But I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing how high of a price HSN ends up charging people for the "Proof Coppers" !
Can you just imagine !
HSN will be buying THOUSANDS of these Proofs Sets just to get at those Cents !
There will be a pile of discarded plastic OGP's in the back of their building the size of the Empire State Building, as they feverishly rip them open to "make their money" on parting out these Copper Cents !
The prices they'll charge though........and for "graded slabs" of the four designs.........MERCY !.......those who don't know any better are going to get ripped off MIGHTILY by HSN !

I don't do proof sets. Buy the unc. issues they have more value in the long run because of the lower mintage.

When people starting submitting Lincolns from the UNC sets, it will be interesting to follow the population reports from the TPG.

The first few coins slabbed MS70RD should bring insane prices.
