Too bad you have to deal with that. As long as you have tracking confirmation that he received the return, ebay will almost certainly refund your money, since it was an INAD, he is nonresponsive, and as a new seller your payment would have been put on hold (not paid out to him).

Happy day! ebay ruled in my favor and refunded the money Lesson learned... hopefully ... I'm eyeing this 1911-D on ebay, it isn't graded but looks super nice. The seller seems much more reputable.

Maybe I should just stick to graded stuff though

Glad your money got refunded. That 1911-D doesn't look mint state, and the seller doesn't have the best reputation.

Glad you got your money back! I got scammed on a coin not long ago - then the 'seller' deleted their account as well, still got my refund after proving my case with lots of images.

Remember - ebay has the sellers account info - they will get their pound of flesh from your 'seller'.. (money too)

Don't buy from Great Southern Coins. Pictures are "juiced" - stick with graded coins. Maybe register to bid on Great Collection's auctions. All coins are slabbed and you can usually do pretty good bidding on their coins.

That was a run. Also agree with these guys. Every un slabbed early key date Lincoln on ebay is potentially cleaned. I bought two coins from them over the years both cleaned. That's why they have mediocre photos.

Yes! I am learning... just signed up for Great Collections.

I'm searching for a 55 double die... the last variety I need to consider my collection complete.. and came across this laughable listing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/3892653301...lincoln+cent

The fact that someone on ebay could have a 97.2% positive rating and post something list this is scary.

I have seen multiple sellers on the bay with 99 and 100 percent ratings that have horrible listings, it's all about the bay making money, they will turn a blind eye as long as they can....

Just educate yourself and use folks like are here if you don't know before putting yourself in the bad position you did earlier. Some mistakes can be very costly and possibly not able to come back from like you did on this particular incident.

ebay kinda used to police this kinda junk —- but them days is long gone!

It's now back to the "Wild West Show" ebay days of the late 1990's and early 2000's where pretty much anything goes. Crazy times again!

97.2% positive is actually kind of low by ebay standards. This seller currently has 89 items listed, including only 2 coins. Clearly not the kind of seller you want to be buying something like this from.
