I would like feedback from those of you who have submitted for "upgrade" from the old holders and what your success stories (or non success stories) are.
Thanks

This is just my opinion on what I have seen myself and it really depends on the coin inside. I have seen some that were no brainers in old green PCGS holders but I have seen some that even I questioned the grade in the same type of holder. On the other hand with Fatty Holders from NGC all I have seen in hand seem to be pretty nice for the grade and allot of people have had some nice success upgrading them especially if the coins are graded MS-60-63. The old PCI green holders in my opinion seem to be the best upgrade potential from the coins I have seen in hand (even though they are hard to find because most have already been cracked out)

Condor101 would be the one to ask about that, he is the expert of the slab

I have actually been at a stand still on this album for awhile now and until I get this project car finished I am doing with my 15 year old son it will probably have to wait a little while longer but hopefully I will be able to get it finished before long

How to date older PCGS and NGC slabs. This should help you with the NGC slabs
http://boards.collectors-society.co...#Post2248404

And this make give you some answers for the PCGS slabs but I warn you some of the photo links are broken. I have never reconstructed the thread with full links again.

http://(046) This link is not allowed by the Staff &threadid=222533

Well apparently the staff here will not allow me to post the link to the PCGS thread.

Cameron's Sample slabs site is not a bad site, but it is not good for determining slab production dates. The further he goes into samples for each company the more muddled the actual order becomes and he shows later numbered varieties that are actually on earlier slab types

As to success rates for resubmitting that is going to vary considerably depending on when you sent thm in and/or whether or not the coins had been previously cherrypicked before, and your ability to to grade accurately.
