Who (or what) is WGCC? There are a lot of Canadian coins with this "slab" label on ebay lately.

In my opinion you hit the nail on the head by describing it as a "slab." One of the more notorious self-slabbers, apparently broadening their horizons.

SuperDave, you jumped the gun when you said " One of the more notorious self-slabbers, apparently broadening their horizons." I take it ytou know this person well enough to say this?

Have you bothered to ask a question like Steve.?..
.Well I finally came across one of the listings while searching for some half dollars and I sent them a message asking about the slabs..... It just happens that the seller purchased about 1500 slabbed coins from an estate sale.. The widow's husband was starting a business and fell ill and was unable to continue..As for the name she does not know...So there you go.. oh and Steve I checked out the coins and the person who offered their opinion on grades done a fine job...I am bidding on some myself... So theres the scoupe.. or what I found out

I've read this before! It's in about every ebay auction where the seller distances himself/herself from personal responsibility. Believe half of what you see and none of what you read/hear. See, you don't have to believe this.

Yeah, stick around here Artdio, you'll be able to recite this stuff from memory you'll see it so much. The words change a lttle but the song remains the same.

just curious, seems like every one is wiling to condemn the seller real fast..Has anyone bothered to check out the coins? from what I see some actually look undergraded , or am I wrong?

Either way if this person has done nothing wrong other than slab coins and offer their opinion why would this be wrong... We all have our own thoughts about grades , so we still end up buying what we like based on our personal preferences right? An EF to me might be AU to someone else... Please enlighten me if I'm wrong......But what if the person is actually telling the truth? Who are we to decide, until they do wrong.. I guess we all have our thoughts but I can tell you this....I have yet to see anyome complain about the extremely overgraded coins being put out by the new US TPG ...NNC..Now you guys want crap have a look at the stuff they slab.......Ive seen coins marked as MS that would never even go EF no matter who slabbed or graded them....

No, no one has checked it out because you haven't provided a link. It's impossible to search for them on ebay because they are not allowed to mention these fly by night operations in their listings.

I was talking about the slabber, not the seller. I have no way of knowing who the seller is, but I know who/what WGCC is.

OK guys, here is the link I think to the US service http://www.nnccoingrading.com/

I am trying to find some of these listings so you ya'll can see what Crazy overgrades really look like... But yet there still here and from what I have seen only 1 seller in the US has these slabs on ebay

Now as for the other here is the listing I found while searching for half dollars ebay # [eBayItem]110439101489[/eBayItem]

Now go have a look .. From what I can tell I see nothing wrong..The seller does not say Slabbed or Graded by or certified or anything of the sort, Auction start at .99 cents no reserves , no crazy asking , or Buy IT NOw prices. No Hype , no deceit. Now look at the grades on the slabs, they look pretty good to me considering what I've seen with some of the major companies...
I understand what you are all saying but in the end WE the collectors will still BUY what we want from who we want based on what we like...

Myself I never buy what a holder -slab says as far as a grade..I have my own opinion as you all do and thats what counts Right?

Anyhow I always remove them to place in books....

Sorry but this seller follows the same pattern as every other self slabber. The photos are either too blurry or too small to tell. Any one of his MS coins could have wear and you wouldn't know it until you got it.

Ask them to send you a high res photo, all you'll likely get is excuses. Camera's broke... coins are in a safety deposit box.... they're at my second cousin on my mother's side's house....

Art, we've been on this trip so many times, the scenery is very predictable.

when scrubbed EF coins are "slabbed" as MS67 coins, it ceases to be a matter of opinion and becomes a matter of fraud and deceit.

Bio, if a person cant tell the difference between a cscrubbed Ef and a Mint state 67 then maybe they should not be bying the coin... And you are correct if any seller does that then I would suggest never buying there crap again......Thus being the case of 90 % of NNC graded coins...

And scuba, great idea... I am gonna ask the seller to send me a better pic of a coin .. I will post it if they send it .. Then we can all see if they seem honest....For all who know this taking pics or scans through any type of plastic holder or slab is quite hard.. I'm not saying it cant be done.. I sell on ebay and have tried various ways to get nice clear pics through the stuff.. Sometimes it works other times not...
