*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Had to scan this because don't have a camera that will get that close up. But you get the idea. Kinda looks like a glob of coper driped on it. The reverse side was affected. What do you think?

oh, I guess I should have told you that a Cud happens when a piece of the die breaks off. See the glossary for a better definition: CudAn area of a coin struck by a die that has a complete break across part of its surface. A Cud may be either a Retained Cud, where the faulty piece of the die is still in place, or a full Cud, where the piece of the die has fallen away. Retained Cuds usually have dentil detail if on the edge, while full Cuds do not. Edited by bmanofnbc

Thanks for the info bmanofnbc! Thanks carl! I just found it in a jar of change that I had. I went through it recently as my interest has started to grow in coin collecting. This one was the most interesting I have found yet. How common are these? Any value?

The answer is they aren't easy to find, and yes, they do carry a premium.

Indeed ... These Cud are tough to find .... but don't plan a Hawaii vacation with it. I suppose it's worth a few bucks if you can find the exact collector who is looking for it ... David |

What's with the capitalization, since when is Cud an acronym? And that's a really nice one rawlmno - love the weakness on the reverse. |

That is a nice Cud... and like nickelsearcher said don't plan your vacation with it, but if you are on a limited budget and wanna keep rolls searching you can get something for it and buy more rolls |

Welcome to CC! That's an error called a Cud. I like the position on the cent. GREAT FIND! These are pretty scarce, worth about $20 or so. |
