Ugghh the SBA dollar. What a terrible obverse... Actually the whole coin itself is just terrible, period.

I voted for the Sacagawea dollars, mostly because I can't stand the thought of that stupid law requiring the mint to continue making them, storing them, and guarding them, just because some senator in North Dakota felt like she (Sacagawea) was a local. edited for clarity

Quote: I remember vending machine owners cursing these things up and down. A whole day of sales from the machine could be lost b/c someone that morning did not take the time to make sure it was a quarter they were putting in the machine. The machine jammed and was useless the rest of the day. Vending operators were the ones who pushed for a mini-dollar to start with. Almost every vending machine made since 1980 is perfectly capable of handling brass bucks. For the few that aren't, the repair to prevent accidental jamming by mini-dollars costs less than a service call. Remove two screws and replace the coin slot with one with too small a diameter to fit a SBA.

I voted for the Sacs. They're just boring.

Quote:I'm not wild about the Sacs or the Pres Dollars, either, but the SBA Dollars were a bad idea that failed miserably. Yeah, that's why they made them in 1999. They were so unpopular, they ran out.

I'm voting Twenty Cent Pieces. Cool looking coin, but the whole idea behind the denomination failed. SBA is a close second though.

What's strange is that 20¢ makes more sense in a decimal coinage than 25¢.

Presidential. They are pretty ugly and there will be so many of them. LOL Did I mention they are ugly?

With the pres. dollars--they are a failure. Their main mistake I see is using a frontal portrait on such a low-profile strike. The " Peace dollar" was anti-climatic after the Morgan series, which looks good in both BU and well-circulated grades. For the same reasons, the "Mercury" dime series far outshines the Roosevelt series.

I can't stand the Susan B's. The Pres Dollars are a close second, without the mint mark on the front. I didn't mind the Sacs, until they pulled the same stunt with the mint mark. Oh, and yes I have complete sets of all of them!

The date and mint mark should have never been moved to the edge. I collect by date and mint. With the Presidential dollar (unique obverse) and the Native American dollar (unique reverse), I can get by without the date. But the mint mark? I see no reason to collect both mints if I cannot see the mint mark when they are in my album. I have yet to buy a Presidential dollar album because of this. Do I get a 'date only' album for them? If I do, I may just put my proofs in there since the few I am getting from circulation have already started to turn.

Or 99% of holders.

I don't really like the 3 cent silvers, because they're so tiny that they're hard to look at (not that the design is anything to look at), they gathered dirt easily so it's hard to find a nice-looking one, and they cost an awful lot of money for such a tiny coin.
