I am on the subscription for 3 of the proofs each year. They came in earlier this week. I also subscribe to the silver proof sets. I was a little disappointed at first to see what looked like a X shaped scratch on one of the ASE proofs. It turned out it was a piece of fine plastic trim from the plastic encapsulation.

Tell me this isn't a kick in the pants. The box that made it to my house was my 5oz Grand Canyon. I was so relieved that I had something to hold me over after this disaster. I was so excited opening the box all the earlier stress at the post office was melting off my shoulders. I get the box open and pull out the coin. I'm so thankful all is good...Wait...Are those scratches, Theirs scratches going all the way from the bottom of N & I in United down through Washingtons Neck. And just as if it were cartoon, Pink Pink Pink the tensions back. So I wrapped it back up and brought it back to my favorite place. I then shoot my sons friend home and they've been dying to show me his King Corso's (Dogs) I put my 3yo on my back and head into the back yard. I get half way up the deck when OOHHHHHHHCCCCCC I look down at my right wrist and a hornet or wasp is going to town on me. I went to go smash this thing then remembered my son on my back. So I just turn and run. I've never had a reaction to Honey Bee or Yellow Jacket stings before. But my wrist got bigger and bigger I go to the ER around 1am and luckly I'm in and out. They gave me some Antibodys I wake up the next day and half my hand, wrist to elbow are 4 times the size. I can't stop itching the red puffiness. I soon find out why, not only is the infection itching me turns out I have some kind of posin Ivy Oak, right where the hornet stung me 4 or 5 times. LOL I said this is a day to remember. Its getting better I'm happy to say. Sometimes a day like this allows you to put everything into perspective.

I was supposed to have my 2011 proof ASE today. The tracking number had the package arriving at my local post office on thursday, but I gave it a little time for sorting or whatever they do, but when it didn't come today, I decided to go to the post office. The lady at the window was nice. She took my tracking number and address to go look for it. She looked around the building and checked with the postal carrier that comes to my house. She told me that according to the tracking number, a notice was left at my house, which there wasn't, but the package didn't seem to be anywhere around the building or with the mail man. So basicly, it hasn't been delivered and they don't even know where it is. At 9:30, they told me they'd continue looking for it, and call me one way or the other by the end of the day. The lobby closed at 1, but I was told people would be there, and looking for it, until 430, but 430 came and went with no word on what was going on. I guess I'll be going back on Monday. Hopefully the people I deal with will be smarter than the ones I dealt with today.

Have you noticed they never lose things you don't want?
Bills ,junk mail, crap like that. Trying to get something as simple a coin delivered seems
impossible at times..

I too waited 3 days then stopped down to the post office, When I gave them the Fed Ex tracking number, The lady says "Umm This Is The Post Office, Not Fed-Ex" OOhhh this lady is ALWAYS rude and condescending! Shes quick to show your clearly bothering her. I've been lucky not having to deal with her up until my said visit. She smacks & sucks her teeth and flares her nostrils out while rolling her eyes now add that smart A&& comment and thats the helpfulness I got, Ohh but we do have a drop off box out front thats Fed Ex. She was trying to get my temper going but other than reaching over that counter and smacking my son. I was going to keep cool this way I don't give them or feed into anything that would make them miss my package. My son was the perfect buffer though. They could only say so much before he'd say or do something they enjoyed. When I explained Fed Ex said you already have the box, Ohh we don't get packages from Fed Ex, Turns out Fed Ex drops them off then the post office dels, I only found this out cause I had to ask "So you never deliver any Fed Ex packages. OOhhh sure we deliver them but we don't pick them up. Your welcome to speak to a manager she says. Talking in circles isn't going to make me go away I thought. I was frustrated that now the package was lost at this point. But it felt so good to stop in their the next day. With proof from their system something was wrong. They gave me the same song and dance at first, And just as if a light switch were flipped they became overly concerned. Because now their buts were on the line. I didn't get to make it back over their Fri. I almost went Sat but figure, come Monday they have to know something. I've stopped obsessing over them. The'll come when they come. I mean I'm still going to pursue them just not expect to see them each day.
And LandDude you right on! Never have a problem with them loosing a bill.
Although I have been lucky, I mean other then a POW going though and opening my mail at my old house. This is really the first major problem I've had. Wait.... When I lived at my old house (2 months ago) they delivered my wife and I packages to other random Town Houses in our Complex. Its all coming back to me now. Whats funny is I live 40sec walk from my old house. I should of walked through their. Cause they did this to us a few times. We got so good at locating our packages the second that tracking number said del, if it wasn't outside our house we went hunting. This was becoming such a problem I stopped down their. SOB I forgot all about this. LOL Well someones enjoying 2 nice sae right now. You know what I'm going to go check my old mail box later today. No ones moved in, and I've been checking it every now and again. And theirs always mail. Wow a whole bunch of issues are now coming back to me. These were all in our old house though. How funny would it be if their in their. I'll let yas know. Thanks for letting me vent.

Quite a day for you both. If you live in a big city or in an apartment complex, don't have anything with PMs inside it shipped to your residence, there's always someone in the neighborhood keeping an eye on who gets what, and some people may be overly interested in a neighbor's constant deliveries, IMO.

Do yourself a favor and rent a USPS box. It cost $84/yr. at my post office, and mint always ships it priority mail through USPS, NO intermediate shipping through FedEx or UPS or some other third party shipper. I thought that most numismatists had a PO Box? That was one of the pieces of advice I got from a dealer years ago at a coin show with an extensive mail order business. Never have lost a delivery yet, but I have had packages (non-coin) stolen from the mailbox in front of my residence.
