I might go $225 plus, depending on the strike and overall appearance, etc, etc. Others could be more.

I've been looking for a NGC GSA 64 1883 and passed on alot of them for one reason or another.

Numismedia and NGC show them at $281 for MS64. PCGS lists it at $270 and at $315 for MS64+

I would go somewhere around half his asking price give or take for factors that southsav listed.

Yeah, $500's a great price....for him. For you, it's more than twice what you'd have to pay just about anywhere else. My favorite price datapoint, Heritage Auctions, has offered 129 of these (1883-CC's in MS64 slabs) in 2011 alone, and the going rate is just above $200 unless a bidding frenzy happens. Even then, the frenzy stops at $250.

$500 is MS64DMPL, in a slab.

I always check Teletrade for Morgan prices; they do a high volume of them and even though you can't see them in person, you certainly get a good idea of what a good "street price" is for them.
