I put an ad up on Craigslist saying I was buying coins. I got a reply and the guy has 60 V nickels, 11 Indian Head cents, 72 Buffalo nickels, 1 Seated dime (Very worn), and 212 Wheat cents. He wants $150.00 for all of them, which is a little too high in my opinion. I was thinking $1.00 on the Indians, $0.75 on the V nickels, $0.35 on the Buffalo nickels, $0.04 on the Wheats, and $5.00 on the Seated Liberty dime. For a total of about $95.00 for all of them, here are some pictures he sent me, let me know what you think.     |

$60 would be the most I'd pay for the lot. Maybe $65.
Did the guy tell you if the date/MM are recognizable or not?

I'm with MatteProof on this one, Buffalo nickels, even in VF-EF with full dates sell for around 50c when bought in bulk, same goes with a lot of the other coins. Considering the condition and a wholesale purchasing price $55-$60 sounds about right. Although, I personally wouldn't buy them; there's better rhings to be bought with $60. Considering he's asking $150, I doubt he'll go down to a rreasonable price. |

That's way too high. There's a big difference between $60 and $150, like z said, negotiations probably won't go well. I'd pass.

If your gut is telling you that $150 is too high, then that's a sure sign that it is.
Second, as you've wisely done, you've asked for other opinions and have gotten a consensus as to what it should be.
I think I'd pass as well, without negotiating.

Ask yourself what you would do with a couple hundred bottom barrel coins. Why even buy them at any price?

I'd only buy coins like that to experiment with or give to kids on Holloween. Looks like something taken from a pile of junk at a flea market. I'd pass if I were you.

Is the large cent shown in the first picture part of the deal? I'd value this group at: Large Cent: $8-$10, could be more but the pictures aren't good enough to gamble. Indian Head cents: $5 V-Nickels: $20 Buffalo nickels: $10-$15, assuming that most don't have a date clearly legible. If many have full or partial dates then they would be worth a bit more. Seated dime: $2-$8 depending on whether the date is legible and whether there is damage. Overall I'd say $45 to $58 is reasonable. I have to agree with tkbslc though. Do you really want this stuff even if the price is right? Any local coin shop could easily furnish a lot like this within minutes. |

Probably all worn, common date stuff. I'd rather put $150 toward ONE good coin.
