Could this possibly be a spitting eagle coin? I am not aware of this variety with this year, but it sure looks like it to me. Any feedback the forum can provide is appreciated.

No. The spitting eagle is actually a drooling die die clash:

These die clashes can happen on any year/mints quarters. Much ado about nothing.

If everyone saved every coin with a die scratch, they would eventually own all the coins. Except all the EDS coins. Those are the ones I like a whole lot better.
