To me it does not look like a Lam or strike thru. have you tried to soak it in Acetone for awhile? ( and as always we need to consider the fact that we are assessing solely by looking at the picture rather having it in hand)

Absolutely. The thinner the lamination the more likely the design transfer will be visible. This is why I mentioned foil as a possibility. Most likely just a thin layer of 40% silver that was improperly mixed.

The image showing ITED seems to show another piece that hasn't come off and it is almost touching the base of the "E" after curving up from the leaf at the bottom of the image and continuing to the ray nearest the left wing tip.

Yes, that piece peeled up while I was placing the coin in soak. I'm on board with post strike loss. thanks all.
