Muddler, Thank You
Beautiful 32 D

One has to be careful when you begin thinking about Eisenhower's
They can become an addition VERY Quickly

Once I was able to get past the thinking that there are still tons
of them out there to be had. And there is nothing interesting about
them. I realized just how absolutely rare they are in higher grades.
Sure there are metric tons of them still out there. But they are in
lower grades. Finding them in higher grades is one of the bigger
challenges I have taken on in numismatics.
Then there are the die varieties. I have never seen a series of coin
with more die varieties in such a short series.
I know that the powers that be in the
Coin World do not care for the
series but that is of no matter. I and others know exactly how rare
some of these Eisenhower's actually are.
one example is the 1971 D RDV-006 (Friendly Eagle Variety)
Has no less than 11 naked eye pick-up points on the Reverse.
Making it actually a new pattern, yet some of the leading coin grading
services will not even recognize it as a variety let alone a pattern.
All good leaves those of us that know more time to find them before
they are recognized.
Another example is the 74 S Proof's I posted. both silver and copper-nickel
versions made from the same die and it is a one die coin.
Estimated useful life of Eisenhower Proof Die, 10,000 coins
split that between two separate metal composition.
I was lucky enough to find the second known example of the
1974 S Copper-Nickel Proof.
The same circumstances in any other coin series would have been front
page of every numismatic magazine and web site.
Like I said be careful
Eisenhower dollars can become very addicting
very quickly. But I have never had more fun collecting any other coin series.
