I picked this one up a couple days ago for $1. I have it soaking in olive oil. It kind of looks to me like a 1877 but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

The picture is not clear enough to decipher a date. Can you get a closeup of the date, and possibly an angle shot?

I can't tell without a clear closeup of the date.

Do you have a pic of the reverse?

Looks like it has the shallow N reverse. While not an absolute, it helps the case that it may be an 1877.

Business strikes of 1877 have a shallow N reverse while proofs have a bold N reverse. The other dates of the 70's that are known to have both the shallow N and bold N reverse are 1870, 1871, and 1872.

I think you may have scored! Your second picture looks like the last two numbers are 7's. As cwb8539 mentioned, it looks to have shallow N's.
I would send it to ANACS. Your coin is definitely corroded but, if an 1877, you are still looking at a couple hundred bucks at least.

The digits on the 1871 are much closer together. Looks like an 1877 to me.

I would like to see additional photos, but it looks like an 1877 to be. If it is, that is an incredible find!
