I thought this was an aurelian but after more cleaning it looks like there is an M in the legend after IMP what would you attribute this as?

It is Aurelian, IOVI CONSER/ *P, can't figure what the extra globe is, could be an unlisted variant or a double strike. Listed as estiot 747, circa 271.

What you are thinking is an "M" ia actually an AU. Echizento is correct that it is Aurelian. If that is a star P in exergue, I would attribute your coin as RIC 225:
AE Antoninianus. Siscia mint. OBV: IMP AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate, cuirassed (sometimes radiate and draped) bust right REV: IOVI CONSER, Emperor standing right, usually with sceptre, accepting globe from Jupiter, [P to Q] or [star-P to Q] or [P to Q star] in ex.
It's a nice looking coin. Good detail, especially on the reverse and especially Jupiter (he should put some clothes on - he has nothing to brag about). As far as the second globe, I have no real answer. Possible double strike?

haha yeah some clothes would be good. This coin turned out pretty good, thanks for the info, this coin is finished except for some toning and wax.

For what it's worth I agree, Aurelian Here's a pic of one on wildwinds listed as (RIC 225 Siscia var) that looks alot like yours.... right below the 225P which has emperor holding a sceptre. Again, this coin does not have the extra object below the globe as on your coin. Regards

Without question, the bust type is similar. So much so, that I would doubt it came from anywhere else.

I agree they are similar coins, now I see what you guys are talking about with the extra globe. I always thought that he was holding a oil lamp or something. I ran across a good deal with some uncleaned ancients from a dealer with a good reputation from the UK and have put some of my coins up for auction which I will probably regret in the future. I noticed that I have a few ok looking coins after I listed them I will probably keep this one though since I still have about 40 or so coins that still could turn out pretty good.

This is probably the most lifelike bust I have seen from an uncleaned coin that I have purchased and cleaned. And there is so much detail in the reverse.

Yeah, definitely same here. I just asked what Roman tetradrachms were and now I know, and I've learned a ton of other stuff on ancients on here, and I hope to continue to add to my knowledge of these awesome coins. And I certainly enjoy sharing my ancients with you guys!

I believe the dot in the center is a centering dot used by the engraver. In my Carus collection I have some antoniniani also from Siscia with the same dot on some coins of Numerian and Carinus, but only from Siscia and not on all indentical types from this minthouse. So I think it was a engraver's choice using a centering dot or not. Regards Ed

You may very well be right about a centering dot, although I have not seen one on this type of coin before. But this is a very common coin with many unpublished examples lying in museums and private collections, so it would not be surprising that I have not seen this centering dot before.
