Hmmm. a lot of good guesses - some I wish I WOULD/could have bought at that price back then!


Of course the cat is out of the bag for answer number one. Just in case the winner (whoever that will be) and others are interested, I decided to actually map out the message on a pic of another nickel. I remember, years ago, as a kid doing this so I could see where the message began and ended, but had forgotten. So I had some fun and thought I would share:

The type of coin I bought has been mentioned - no need to guess other types than what is already in this thread.

I was surprised to find out the message began at the bottom left of the V and not the top right - have to wonder why?
