I was kind of trying to tie the 2 together. An investment with some collectible value if silver goes truly down again. I did this also with some proof quarters when spot was high and 2010 silver was 39 99. I figured why buy junk 90percent when I could get proofs for a similar cost. Gi got a few right before silver climbed and the proofs taken off market due to higher spot. I tried to mix the 2 reasons!

I understand completely, angel2004. No collector expects to buy coins and not at least try to get their money back in the end. Buy what you're comfortable with AND enjoy owning. Right now, the El Yunque bullion coin is an absolute steal at $155-$160. I hope the Chaco and Acadia bullion stay in that range or are even lower. With Greece leaving the EU and now Spain is in trouble, it just make the USD more attractive to foreign investors. Dollar goes up, PMs go down. This is the summer to buy Ag.

Quote: No collector expects to buy coins and not at least try to get their money back in the end Hello. I have zero intention of ever selling anything, so I suppose I'm a collector who has no expectation of trying to get my money back in the end. Also, Greece is not leaving the Euro. People are speculating about it as a possibility, but there is nothing more concrete than speculation on that at the moment.

Well, I finally decided to go ahead and pick up a bullion El Yunque today from Provident Metal. I paid a little extra to use my credit card and then paid an extra $8 for shipping, but it still was only $170 after all that.

No but you probably think that if you had to you could. Which is why people dont really think twice about the total cost of the series. Unlike just spending money you can get a very large portion of the purchase back if need be so its more like just moving money around

Personally I would sell in a heartbeat if someone wanted to overpay and just rebuild it and enjoy the profits Of course my favorites would have to be much more of an overpay

But to sell the tax has to be considered as well so really has to be thought out

angel, would you please expound on that statement? Based on this and other threads, I think a majority of us would not sell our numismatic pieces *ever* but those that inherit our collections might.
Curious to hear the sales tax scenarios.

I assume angel was referring to the tax on the money made from the sale but could be wrong.

Yes that is the tax. I'm talking on any gain. And yes. I am buying to hold forever. I have my silver that I held back when a child in the 1960s but one Never knows what may happen that the need arises to sell or use. That's all

Quote: the money is spent and gone, never to return I'm with you for the most part, but I would think if it meant keeping or losing my house, I would sell. Just so long as it wasnt to 'buy time', as that would be futile anyway. It would take something very drastically life changing to get me to sell everything.

Ahh. I was just about to ask if anyone placed an order for NQ0 this morning? Not feeling the hurry on these and will try to pair it with one of the enticing silver products offered next week. Silver is trending downwards this morning, and the problems in Europe should come to a head in a few weeks, so again that makes me wait in hopes of a price adjustment. However, if silver gets past $32-$33 I'll jump on one of these. The website was fairly fast 30 minutes after these went on sale.
