I just picked up a 1875-S Twenty Cent Piece for my 7070, and would like your thoughts on it. These are the sellers images, I do not have the coin in hand...yet. Got it for just south of a deuce (less than $200). Merry Christmas to me! Edited by oih82w8 12/07/2011 4:15 pm

Looks like a cleaned AU worth low XF money, a small nick on the obv. rim @ 10:00 and the cleaning is what holds back the money on this coin, still pretty rare and uncommon coin, nice type piece. Saw it on ebay - you got it at a good price! Anything under $200.00 I'd guess this coin would be in a holder priced around $275.00 at a show, dealer would probably take $225-250 for it.

Thanks for the input! There are so many raw coins out there that have gone through the "cleaning" mill at least once. Perhaps it will gain some patina if left in the right environment (7070 edge toning). The original pieces ( TPG) are are so far out in the stratosphere, but oh so nice, I wanted to fill the 7070 slot that has been vacant for so long. I guess my inner-collector made me do it. He has a 7-day return policy just in case I have second thoughts afterwards.

Agree with the others on the AU details grade and light cleaning and/or dipping. That is a great price on that coin; you don't see many with that level of detail and when you do - $$$$.
Nice pickup!

For $200, I think you did just fine. An AU55 coin for a VF30 price, all thanks to a little dipping. For a type album, I don't think you could do much better for the price. If you were hoping to sell it at a profit, well, there's always ebay...

I've looked at at least 10 1875s in the last month and for what you paid I would have gotten it also. Regardless of dip it will look great in the 7070!

I will post my images of it when it arrives this weekend. I will look it over real carefully for the S/S. I am going to be doing the "coin exchange" for it; in order to buy one, you gotta sell one (or more). Debating on selling my ANACS 14-d (to acquire a nice Trade dollar to go along with this one) or 31-S (and a few others to pay for this one).
