Unusual Error On Roosevelt Dime-Help

lionheadfancier New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 01/12/2007 3:00 pm My mother and I were going through a box of coins(some really old and some newer). This 1973-D Roosevelt dime really looked weird. Upon closer inspection I could see there is a lump inside the coin. It actually protrudes on both sides of the coin. The coin was struck with the lump inside. I do not know anything about errors, but this is obviously an error done at the mint when it was made. I was wondering how common this type of error is and if anyone here has seen this before or if there is specific name for this type of error. I hope you can tell from my photos(I am not even as good as an amateur)what this error looks like. The dime is a strange steel grey silver color. Is the coin worth anything? Would it even be worth putting it up on ebay? Any help or information would greatly be appreciated. lionheadfancier New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 01/12/2007 5:04 pm I've been researching on the internet all day and haven't found one thing that is even similar. I like that when it was struck, the images showed up on the bulges. Just for a little more info on the bulges...they are smooth with no pitting or holes. Whatever caused it, is encased inside the coin. Maybe my coin is one of a kind?(I can wish, can't I? haha). Report this Post to the Staff
