Dumb Question - Why Do People By Same Date Rolls Of Coins

When browsing ebay, I noticed a seller that seemed to sell a lot of same date rolls, which people were actually buying. For example, a roll of 1972d Jefferson nickels in circulated condition. My understanding is that there is nothing special about that year, and it's really not worth more than face value. Why would someone pay a premium, plus shipping, for it? Are they dealers, or people putting together birthday sets or something? Again, sorry for the stupid question, I just couldn't figure it out. Thanks. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 01/18/2012 01:12 am It makes sense to buy solid date rolls of uncirculated coins but I fail to see the reasoning for purchasing common date circulated rolls at a premium. However, some people do purchase them so I guess there is a little bit of money to be made from a seller's perspective but it is not worth the effort IMO. Report this Post to the Staff
