ikandiggit, really cool error notes, I haven't found one yet for all my searching, but it sounds like I only have a few hundred thousand more to check to find one. Stevex6, that is a fantastic collection, love the 4s and the Union Bank 5. Colhand1, they sure tried to cover all the bases on vignettes with that Westmorland note, it's a beaut. Here's part of my humble collection; My shinplaster alphabet and my miscut 1900, I heard they were cut by hand with a scissors, from 2 or more sheets that were held together, hence the miscuts.

west-canuk => I may have to try the alphabet game with the shin-plasters!
The miscut 1900 is cool (you can see the corner of the next note in the upper corner) ... that note must have been cut by Gary the town drunk?

Geeesh, I "really" want the 1935 English & French $25 bills ... the only Canadian series with "$25" bills (hot!) I didn't win this one ... sadly, I didn't have enough "spare-cash" at the time of the auction (*sigh*)

I bought the Charlton Canadian bank note catalog last fall. It's not a cheap catalog but then again it's as thick as an OLD phone book. What amazes me is all of the different banks and types of notes that are available yet when you shop ebay, not much is available. I guess everyone is either hanging on to what they have or they truly are scarce and do not come up at auction often. I bought it because I couldn't find a value for what I have anywhere else except for the few dealers that specialize in these. I have seen some remnants available (not signed by bank personnel), what are your feelings about collecting these?

Bank note collecting is easier from a technical standpoint but those who are into it are INTO it, bank notes have retained their value vs coins and I have to admit if I wasn't so fussy on grade I'd have a lot more. People really hang on to their notes collections and frankly I can understand why.
I really like the 35's, I really like the bird series and I really like the shinplasters. It's always been that way for me. I've been trying to scoop up 37's in sequence to add to the existing ones as well.

Hi Ugly ... => man, I definitely agree with you that "grade" is a slippery-slope ... => and I admit that I am constantly upgrading my quarter-collection and therefore spending "extra-cash" on duplicates ... but at the same time, I have duplicates of the items that I think "rock" (example => who can have too many 1936 dot quarters? => not me ... I'll take a VG, F, etc ... they're all awesome!) ... but I guess you're correct (more sensible) => a person should calculate and only buy "once"! ... sadly, I'm way too impulsive to stick to that strategy ... I want to immediately fill the hole in my albums, and then I'll swoop-by later to upgrade any of the real dawgs, if needed ... I suppose that is kinda stupid/wasteful? ( darn that OCD!) ... anyway ... However, the old paper-money notes are soooooo expensive, that I highly doubt that I'll ever get around to upgrading many of them, because man, I'm already having to spend ludicrous amounts of cash just to get the V-Goods ... hey, I'm a collector, not a Millionaire by the way ... I am not gonna post anymore notes, but if anybody else has some sweet 1954's that would be a great idea (the 1954 series has amazing reverses ... espeially the Mt Burgess $10) ... does anybody have a nice 1954 Devil's Face $10? (that is my all-time favorite note!) I feel like I totally showed-off and wrecked the thread (my bad) => I got a bit too excited

WOW! => yeah, that 1954 Devil's Face series really is the total package, isn't it?! (I don't mean to seem creepy, but even Elizabeth looks a bit hot in the portrait!)
geeesh => those are awesome photos (sadly, I can never seem to take very good photos of my notes)

Quote: what about the 70's => what, nobody collects the 70's!? I was personally never big on the Multicoloured and Birds series (Although I do have a few notes from each). So most of my collection is pre 1954. I am not sure what it was about the notes from the 70's and 80's... I am just not a big fan I guess
