korimeyers New Member United States 13 Posts	Posted 02/10/2012 4:51 pm I am new to this whole coin thing - trying to help my mother value and sell coins that belonged to her parents. After researching online I have identified one of the coins to be a gold 1915 Austrian 4 Ducat. Would appreciate any help on valuing it and also on where it would be best to try to sell. My mother had some people over to her house from a local gold store and thankfully I stepped in and realized quickly they were not giving her a good offer - she mostly has junk silver which I have had more luck valuing. Coinaholic73 Valued Member United Kingdom 298 Posts	Posted 02/10/2012 7:11 pm 1915 4 ducat coins were mostly not made in 1915 as they are still being struck today I believe all with the date 1915 - basically as a gold bullion coin. They are the gold version of the Maria Theresa Thaler. They contain 0.4430 oz of gold so scrap value alone is about $790USD, which is what you can buy them for from bullion dealers. However I've noticed these are currently selling on ebay for $1,100- $1,300 but I've a feeling the buyers may be getting duped into thinking they're getting a '1915' coin. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 02/10/2012 7:15 pm The 1915 gold Austrian 4 ducat coins are bullion restrikes. They contain 14 grammes of .986 gold. That works out to .44 ounces actual gold weight. The current spot price of that gold at U.S. $1720 per ounce works out to be U.S.$ 763. Report this Post to the Staff
