Normally, I don't like colorized coins either, but I did buy this one to go with my unicorn collection. I'll be posting pics when it arrives.

Susan, I actually like that coin. Maybe because in my opinion it is more tastefully done. The very first Pic has too many colors and almost looks "gaudy" to me regardless if it's hand painted or not. Your coin has a few colors, but not really vibrant per say. Much nicer looking and doesn't completely draw your eye away from it being a coin and not a "novelty". JMHO

Would be nice except I don't think the makeup is correct for that year. Also, not the correct color for the eagle. Can't be hand painted either. Hands are to big for such tiny work. Must be done with a brush. Small paint brushes after usage on a garage wall.

I own a colorized ASE It looks really nice. But one is enough. I first saw some colorized Morgans and Peace dollars at a local auction about a year ago. They were much nicer than the one in the opening post here. But still, I just couldn't, and still can't understand doing that to an old collectible silver coin. It nauseates me.

Oh now that's just WRONG! I gotta say every now and then I find something that's just so wonderfully tacky I just gotta have it-like my set of gold-plated 1999 State Quarters, but whoever did that to a Morgan should be drug out into the street and shot!

Rachel

BTW- Susan, that's a nice Unicorn you got there! I've never seen one of those before, I have some Pandas, but I hadn't even heard of the Unicorn until I saw that! Now that's an example of a tastefully done colorized coin.

We had a colorized Mercury dime to sell a while ago and it was truly an eyesore. The coloring was a decal and it wasn't even on straight, but don't you know the thing sold for almost $10? Truly, there is a collection for every coin.

The Reverse is well...ok but, eyeshadow and lipstick? I have a set of the nickels that are handpainted. We got them just 'cause. They're ok from a distance but, upclose I don't care for them. TLS...I agree that this coin is uuugggggllllyyyy!

Yup. I think it's UGLY!! I also don't like the brown hair. Stands out too much from the other brighter colors, it's distracting. Looks like a brown blob. Just my opinion.

For all of you Morgan folks...there's a gal that goes into our local coin shops and she buys Morgans - not BU's or key dates but, she then POUNDS them into different shapes and makes belt buckles out of them! She walks out with bags full! I like certain kinds of coin jewelry - necklaces in bezels but, atleast they don't POUND on them!
