I would like to provide a little more information:
- "My" bank referred to above was BoA, and I just went down to some random branch near work. I'm a young guy who never does in-person banking, so I don't have any connections in the banking world.
- In order to have an "in" with the teller, I first ordered some $2 bills, and half-dollar coins. When I went to pick them up, I printed out a custom thank you card and bought a couple "break the bank!" scratch off lottery tickets as a thank you for the order. I then put my request for Ikes in with the printed out information I had found.
-In case anyone is curious, here is the email I sent, with the response from the Federal Reserve:
Hello,
I am writing to inquire about the possibility of having my bank order
Eisenhower dollar coins from the Federal Reserve. I am located in Houston. I have been doing online research and found that there is a lot of confusion on whether or not the federal Reserve actually has any
Eisenhower dollar coins for financial institutions to request. On this Federal Reserve Webpage, I found a chart showing that it is possible to order and deposit them in $1000 amounts at a time:
http://www.frbservices.org/operatio...ositing.html I was wondering if you could help me with any special instructions or forms my bank would need to use to order these coins if it is possible. If my question could be better answered at a different email address, could you please kindly forward it for me? Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Drew

Drew,
Thank you for your inquiry. Jessie Perez in the Cash Department at our Houston Branch may be able to provide some guidance in working with your financial institution to order
Eisenhower dollar coins. Feel free to contact Jessie directly at (713) 483-3636.
Thanks,
Alex Johnson

I feel comfortable sharing this information with everyone here because it was freely given to me via email. After calling the Cash Services department, it was confirmed for me that...
1) They do not deal with the public directly, you must have your bank call
2) Mr. Perez confirmed that Ikes are available for order from the Feds here in Houston
So, please don't call Mr. Perez hounding him about the coins because he won't be able to help you directly. But if you live in the Houston area, you *can* request that you have your bank call him directly to set up a transfer of coins.
Thanks all for the warm welcome. When I get the Ikes, I will post pictures and I will have lots of questions. I have literally no experience CRH (or Coin Bag Hunting as the case will be for these), and I really need some tips on what to look for when I'm going through my Ikes.
Thanks again and good luck to everyone. I hope this helps someone out there get some Ikes.
