dang, a 73, those weren't even circulated were they? Nice! Well, bank never called yesterday :(, so I'm gonna call them this morning to see if those halves arrived. This was my first time ordering, and she said they were going to call, so I didn't want to be that pushy customer showing up asking where my coins are!! I'll ask them if they can find me some Eisenhower's. So when you look through those Ikes, what all do you look for?

If you're not afraid to part with some of those Ike's. I've started a collection of them, but it's real hard to keep it going in Canada. :) I'd be interested in some of the "rejects" if you don't mind.

I just stockpile them and help my son fill his whitman, never found a proof Ike yet.
Topher, is there anything in particular you are looking for? Everything I have is pretty well circulated. A full 50% of what I find is bicentennials (I think they made over 500 million bicentennials, versus a normal year of some 15 to 20 million, but don't quote me on those numbers).

gatzdon - I only collect circulated coins. Easier on the wallet that way. ;) I believe they made the bicentennials for two years, which is probably another reason there are so many. I'll check what I have at home. I've only got 4 Ikes, so it'll be quicker to just tell you what I have. :) If you're cool with that, we'll work something out. Thanks.

Bought 20.50 dollars worth, and got 1 1969-d. That's what I find funny - sometimes you don't find a silver in $500 worth of halves, and sometimes you open an entire roll. Aaahh, the ironies of life.

madman, on average how much $$$ in halves do you estimate you go through in a week? I'm trying to budget how much I can afford to take out at one time b/c I really want to find me some SILVER!! :)

gatzdon - email me, re: Ike's.
This week, I'm off to get rolls of Loonies and pennies. My eyes are going buggy trying to look for that elusive 1970 dime. I may take a trip to the US next weekend to pick up a case of nickels or pennies to give me something else to do. :) I'd go for halves, but I can't liquidate that much cash just yet, and I'm afraid one of you buggers has probably searched all the rolls that I would manage to get my hands on. :)

Went through some rolls couple weekends ago, found several old pennies, a 41 wheatie, a euro 2 cent and Britain 1 penny. Nothing of interest in the nickels, but I found a whole bunch of 25 cent commemoratives in 2 quarter rolls.

I did pretty well with my weekly $500 box o' halves today. Six 64s, three 64-Ds and a 67 40%. By far the best I have done with a single box all year. The first roll I opened had a nice 64-D. That got the blood pumping! Then, I got zilch for about the next 15-20 rolls and was getting a little disappointed until the other 64s began to appear. One roll actually had two of them right next to each other. ~Jim

Oh, it depends on my finances. anywhere from 0-1000, but probably averages 400-500 dollars. Oh, and I found a 1964 quarter today in a roll at work. Gotta love it, "When is a quarter worth more than 50 cents... when it is 90% silver." Zing! Hmm, mayber I should add a counter for all my coin finds...

A 64 quarter is worth much more than 50¢, more like $2.25.
The best single roll I ever opened had 9 silver coins in it, 1 '64 and 8 40%ers. I almost fell on the floor with that roll. I don't expect a repeat of that ever, but I imagine anything is possible.

man, you guys make me want to cry. Bank never called today so now I'm frustrated b/c that's a whole week that went by wasted. Oh well, I guess i'll have to order from all different branches at different times to make sure I'm constantly looking :) Does anyone use the night deposit to deposit your coins so you don't have to deal w/ the teller giving you an evil look for bringing in $1000s worth of coins? I thought I would try that.
have a great weekend all!

I don't trust any bank to take my coins out of my sight. Either the branch counts the coins in front of me, or I go somewhere else.

so do you guys keep like any/all AU like coins in years where the mintage was much lower than others like say 88? I'm trying to compile a list of everything I need to look for when I get 1000 coins in the near future!! What is the mintage of these halves post 2000?
