That is very very interesting gatzdon. Wonder how that happened.
Well I picked up a box of quarters, nickles, pennies, along with 50 more in quarters and $100 in dimes. Come to find out the box of quarters are all brand new Idaho's. Been looking for a roll and now I have 50 of them (lol).
Just searched my nickles and had a nice return. Finally found a 69S for my whitman. Only need 62D to finish one book. Found two errors I think. Will post a complete list once search the dimes, pennies, and a few halves they had.

Went through 2 boxes and 820 loose this week and found 11 40% and 2 nifc. Man, makes me long for the couple of weeks when my work ordered halves would net me 30-50 for each 100 bucks. Maybe next week...

Out of a box of pennies, nickles, quarters, $100 in dimes, and another $50 in quarters I busted out pretty much. Nickles pulled about a dozen older dates and found a few semi-key dates. Did find 1 silver war time nickle which was my first. The box of quarters surpised me in that they were all brand new Idaho quarters. The other $50 in quarters resulted in zip. For dimes I found 1 dime to complete my 64 to whatever date book. Now to work on pre-64 stuff. Didn't really find anything in the dimes. The box of pennies resulted in 2 canada and 10 wheat, with the oldest being a 1936.
In the handful of halves I got from the teller I did find a 2005p to keep. The mix dollar coins she had were all crud. The new dollars really don't hold up well in circulation. They quickly turn color and scratch easy.
Going to take a break this week except for some quarters. Promised my daughter quarters since she is trying to finish her 1999 and 2000 state books. Course she doesn't know I just got her a new book with all the states P and D to fill from 1999 to 2008 for her birthday. I'll be getting rolls of quarters for the next 6 months I'm sure :D

wow, you're daughter will be very happy!! I'm going to stop by the bank later this week to get some nickels. I think I may save up for the presidential spouse coins. Those things have almost doubled on ebay, heck, even a $100 profit would be fine with me!! :)

Wish I had the cash to buy one when they were released. Only way I'm able to search rolls is between needing to pay bills.

The results of my first roll searching opportunity: I bought a box of nickels, dimes and pennies. And the an odd roll of quarters. The dimes were all 2006 D and the pennies were all 2007 D. Saved a few rolls of each and searched a few rolls - nothing exciting. Found one bicentennial in the quarters.
The nickels were circulated. More exciting in my opinion. Found three Canadian nickels (1994, 1975, 1987), a damaged 1977 with an indented line through the head, some older dates: 1941, 1949, 1957(x2), 1961(x4), 1962(x3), 1963(x3), 1965, 1966(x2) and a ton of 1964s (very high mintage). I saved a few in good condition and a few with interesting toning.
My favorite part was trying to fill up the books though. Filled up all but four in one book and all but six in the second (these are 1962-1995 books). I also started to fill up a 1938-1961 nickel book. Found: 1941, 1942S, 1943P, 1948, 1949, 1952, 1954, 1957, 1961 (2 silvers!).
I'm planning to go to the bank to pick up some more coin tomorrow. I'm also going to ask them to order some half dollars and find out what they do with their foreign money. I'm excited!

That is a pretty nice find arthrene. I'm down to 1 coin for my more modern date nickle book. Finished a dime and penny book. I should search my older nickles I've saved for my pre-64 set.
Most banks just trash any non-us coins they find, even the Canadian.

I talked to one bank and they didn't throw it away. They sent it to their main branch which actually handles money changeovers. I'm hoping that this other bank will save the foreign for me instead of chucking them in the trash. Cross your fingers.

madman12000, what are the non-circulating halves you have found? I've found a couple proofs and 1 WLH but am not sure about the non-circulating...

I got a roll of quarters from my grocery store the other day. Found nothing. Unfortunately my bank doesn't have any rolls of coins (with the exception of Presidential dollars)

NIFC's, as I call them, are 1970, 1987, but mostly the P's and D's from 2002 on. I've found all dates except 2007's. As an added note, I will be going to a relatively close (30 miles) bank on Friday w/ a bunch o' halves. Wish me luck!

Looked through another $1000 worth of halves and found:
2 - 90% 11 - 40%
Total searched since June 2007: $4117 4 - 90% 35 - 40% 1 - Franklin

Picked up another box of pennies, nickels and dimes. I asked a teller about getting some 50c pieces and she said she'd have the manager call me (manager didn't). I'll call tomorrow.
Wish me luck!
