Thanks madman12000 for the explanation. I've been concentrating on nickels lately with a big cold streak of finding anything interesting. I think it's time to get back into the halves.

Went through the $1000 in halfs and found 5 40%'s, one nice rainbow toner, and an error of some sort. Looks like the rim is double die on one side or something.

The bank manager called me back today, she said that she has never ordered halves before. I'm hoping this is (and the fact that the first time I went to buy coin boxes the teller was very very confused) is a good sign meaning that I'm the only one doing this in my area and all those treasures won't get snatched up before I get there!

That 1946 canadian nickel is something like 99.9% pure nickel. Worth about 15¢ in scrap.

I found another 1964 proof Kennedy half this week. Not as nice as my first one, but definitely jumps out at you as a proof.

Finished the penny box. It was mostly 2007Ds I got so sick of them I was tempted not to open some of the rolls. However, every roll (except one) had something other than 2007D thrown in. So, onto the results:

3 Wheaties 1952S 1956D 1958D
Four with interesting toning
And I think I'll save all the coppers.

Not the most exciting box in the world maybe the dimes will be better.

I went to the bank today and got 3 rolls of john adams and 1 roll of what I thought were normal circulated Sacagawea dollars. It turned out to be a full roll in bank wrapping, of 2000 P Uncirculated Sacagawea dollars I am keeping them. They look so pretty, so shiny, no fingerprints, no toning, perfect coins

I found another 1964 Proof Kennedy half yesterday. Not as nice as my first one as it is a little circulated, but I'll take it none the less.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, things have been busy. I'm glad to see that you guys are still finding some goodies. I got a 43 Walker, a 63 Franklin, two 64s and 7 40% last week. This week...Well, I was due for a visit from the "zilch fairy", and I got it. 1000 pieces of 1971-2000 copper-nickel junk! It happens, and it will just make the next good box even sweeter. ~Jim

Went through another $1000 of halves last night and came up with:

15-40%

All of them came from one $500 box. I'm seeing a trend forming between the different banks that I pull from and will begin concentrating on the good producers.

Well now I know where all my silver is going.... to gee_dubya75 and Jim :P

Not had any luck finding halves of late. Though end of the month is a good time to look for odd stuff according to my friendly teller that watches out for stuff for me. Seems that is when most stores clean out the "junk" in their drawers like halves, $2 bills, etc.

Did pick up a box of pennies, nickles, and $270 in quarters to search. May do that Saturday since about to go see the new Potter movie. Take care
