Finished my box o' pennies. A modest box with about 10-15 rolls of 95% coppers, 1 2000 Wide AM and 1995-D DDO!! I wasn't sure at first, but I got a real good look at "In God We Trust" and there it was. I'm going to see if there is any coin shops in my area to get a professional opinion. I would post a pic, but my camera SUCKS! I can try a scan. If it works, I'll post it. I'll update as soon as I get conformation. Good luck hunters!

I have gone through what must be thousands of dollars in pennies. I have never once found a steel cent.

I have a complete set of Loncoln pennies through 1998 but have never seen a steel penny outside of this.

I think more people know abotu the 43 steel cents than anything else, so they always get snatched out of circulation.

Yeah, even in great condition they're not worth much, nor are the mintage numbers rare......but the '43 steel cent DOES STAND OUT !.....and you're right.....I think most people keep em' when they see em'.....

After taking my accumulated change to a Commerce bank, they have a Coin Arcade counting machine there... came out to be $29.73
and went to the teller to get my money with the receipt and asked him I wanted all in rolls and got a combination of cents, nickles and one roll of quarters.

The nickle rolls had the following:

1940
1949
1954
1954d
1961d
1963
1963d x4
1964 x3
1964d x5
1967
1969d
1969s

2007 Mexican $1 - has a goldish color in the center

AND TO MY SURPRISE !

A Buffalo nickle ! no date
Boy was I excited.

There's a nearby bank which is only open M-F and always seems to be closed when I drive by. I got out of work early today and found it open. The teller had rolls of halves in a locked cabinet behind the counter, not in the vault as I would expect. I only had $70 on hand so I took 7 rolls, figuring I'd come back if I found anything good.

Well, the first roll I opened had 1 1964 and 5 silver-clad Kennedys. As an extra bonus, it also contained 21 coins! I pulled more cash from the ATM and bought the remaining $90 from that cabinet. Another teller had halves in his drawer and I got $110 from him. Unfortunately, all his rolls were losers, but from the $160 total that were in the cabinet I scored 2 1964 coins plus 25 silver-clads. I guess there is still a little silver floating around...

I picked up 25 rolls of halves after work friday. It's the same bank I've been going to for 8 months with little payoff. I ended up with 85 40% and 12 90%. WOW!! One roll was marked 1968, one 1967, and one 1964 and 1965. It was all true. My famine is over.

Grandpa gave me a three and a half rolls that he'd had sitting around since 2002. Found a 1939S (filled a hole in my album!), 1952S, 1954S and 1959D

I went back to that same bank the following monday and got 25 more rolls. You're not going to believe this but I found 75 more 40% and 4 more 90%. That's a grand total of 160 40% and 16 90% out of 50 rolls. Then I went back that friday and they only had 19 rolls, but I still managed 22 40% and 1 90%. It totally blew my mind. You better believe that I'm going back this friday.
