Since I found a 1945 fake half. I am curious if there is another counterfeit. Don't mean to spoil your fun. Found a fake half coin is also very exciting too.

Joeb907: That would be a Peace dollar! Still very nice find! I am new to this too. We all get confused sometimes especially doing something new.

I looked through $5 of half dollars, nothing. And then, I got a roll of the new Presidential dollars to look for errors, but instead I got a roll containing SBA's, Sacs, Adams, and Madison Dollars. Also, are the S mint SBA's worth keeping at all...

yes, the s mint sacs would be proofs. Hang on to those. Also, five dollars in halves is not enough to find anything. Try ordering a box, $500.

I stuck my toe in the coin roll hunting today. While I was at the bank opening a checking account for my wife, I bought 3 rolls of halves and $30 of $2 bills....tally:
7 1776-1976 Bi-centennials (some are in excellent condition. warrants more evaluation) 1-1965 40% 1 Roll 19-1968 halves 1 1969 half
There are a couple of early 70's that were in great shape, I'll have to take a 2nd look.

Yeah, I realize $5 was not enough but it is all that the teller had. I had planned on getting like 5 rolls, but he only had 10, so I took them

I go tomorrow to pick up $650 in halves, wish me luck. If there's anything super incredible, I'll take a picture for bragging rite's. One can always hope.

Results from today's roll hunting: $630 halves 1 Franklin 1 64 Kennedy 3 40% halves $55 nickels 1 Canadian nickel nothing else special, saved about half a dozen from the forty's, no War Nickels. $15 pennies 20-25% copper 4 wheats (common dates) 2 canadian pennies 1 bahamas penny All in all, not to bad. I was hoping for a little more silver, but I ended up getting someone's dump, as over 20 of the roll's were marked "not keepers" . I think i'll pick up some dime's tomorrow.
