I voted for the 1916D Merc and thankyou for not asking if I want it with "exquisite" Full Split Bands. These things are nice and probably worth extra money but when the tail starts wagging the dog, it is, IMO, time hit flank speed.

A 1953S MS65 Franklin with Full Split Bands that lists for $75 in Coin Values in MS65 without Full Split Bands, just sold for $23,000. Lets see now that 306.6 times over the non Full Split Band price because you can see some lines at the bottom of a cracked bell on the reverse? Have I got this stuff right, because, surely I must be missing something?

Never mind. A plain ole 1916D Merc in VF-EF will be just fine for me.

Oh wait, I really can't get that with $850. Okay I change my vote. I put the money towards moving to state without an income tax.

I would buy the gold proof buffalo. The reason is because my grand parents bought one, and I think it is beautiful.

Just bought a 1910-s St. Gaudens in au+ condition for $727.00. A great gold coin, and $75.00 bucks left to spend. A 1916-d Merc would be great, but I am like the others, for $850 I want a coin I cannot wait to pickup again. The Merc would be kind of rough. Jim

Tough problem to have.

Go for a CLASSIC as they don't make them any more! I like both of the notes but must admit they are tougher to sell off as currency collectors are a little harder to locate in this area of the country compared to key date coin collectors. The gold buffalo will be around for a while and while gold is great there are a great number of classics that will be a much safer investment. I wouldn't touch the Wisconsin quarters with a ten foot pole, let alone spend my hard earned money on them, as they will pass with time. Too much hype to even think of going there. If you insist on modern then look for the "Speared Buffalo" Nickel of 2005 in a high grade. Limited availability and low numbers to date so it should be a stable investment. My pick of your list would be the 1937D Three-legged Buffalo nickel but see many options that are attractive so do what you WISH with YOUR cash and enjoy your decision! Thats all that really matters!

I would deffently go with the 1916-D Mercury dime. Mainly because it is my first set I started beside State Quarter and that is the only one I am missing. I have alway dreamed of owning one. Also it is such low mintage that I beleave it will only incress alot more in value. plus alot of new collecter are buy Mercury dime. since it is a inexpensive set to complet besides this one.

I picked the 1916D Mercury dime. I would say that it would surely keep going up in price as it is very sought after. BenVA

Toss-up for me between 3-legged Buff & 1909S VDB cent. Just because I don't have either one yet.

If I had to choose from the coins on the list I would go with the 3-legged Buffalo. Dad has a 1909-S VDB and I can visit it anytime, and there's no Morgans on the list! Or else I might spend it all on Euro commems, now there's some nice coins!
