In the past few days I spent 5 dollar coins and 1 half dollar for turnpike tolls and food at a coin auction. Then I spent 10 dollar coins and 1 half dollar at the Relay for Life this Friday-Saturday. Then I spent 12 dollar coins and 5 half dollars at the flea market today. This totals 30.50.

$98,425 to go.

Thought you might be interested to know that I have found 2 Sacagawea dollars here in Canada in the last 3 months, in rolls of Canadian 1 dollar coins. A 2000P & a 2009D. Haven't ever found any before over the years, they were found about a month apart, different banks. Nice to see thar some are circulating enough to end up on my side of the border!

Do they have to be golden dollars, or will Susan B or Ike dollars count too?

I think as long as the coins are $1 and Half then they are counted.

I propose a Coin Community Forum project called Project 100K where we in the course of regular commerce spend $100,000 worth of golden dollar coins or half dollars. Post here with how many you spent, where, and what if any curious anecdotes you have regarding your transaction.

I don't know if the decision was changed to include SBA and Ikes. We need a ruling

nice play at the restaurant, Fuzz.

Ok, so I put twenty six of the 50 Chester Arthur's I bought from the mint in circulation, putting the rest in Saflips... not that any of them made MS-66 or above. Really lousy quality from the mint... but then again they made 7 million of them, I hear.

$98,333.

And as the original author of the post and thus the rule maker- I will allow Susan B. Anthonys, but I am holding on the Ikes for now. Instead, I will allow the spending of Morgans (aka Bland dollars) and Trade dollars.

So Project 100K allowable spends:

Golden gollars
Susan B. Anthony dollars
Morgan dollars
Trade dollars
half dollars (all types except barbers and patterns)

So really its down to baby dollars and Kennedys? I wont be spending a Morgan unless its my bottom dollar.. literally. and even then i'd better get more than 1/4 gallon of gas.
