I spent $28 making sure my sets made it back to the mint, I'll absorb the loss and the lesson by never ordering direct from them again. Assuming that by the end of the run if they could not get it right, they never will and wrote them a form letter stating such. I was so upset I even sent them back the no scratches set they threw in to the batch in a vain attempt to make the order look or seem acceptable. I can see the little white spots in the proof photo above, I saw the same thing.

Wow, in the last week I have seen a number of PF/RP 69 sets in retro holders sell for $153-158 range with free freight on ebay! What a shellacking those who paid to get them in holders are taking! Ouch

That's brutal. Seems like more of these sets have ended up on ebay than anywhere else. Its always flooded with them in every way you could possibly want the set The pcgs 70 ones last I looked seemed to be holding around 500.

Market saturation..... gonna continue for a few more month or until we have the official release of the MINTAGE from the US Mint. IF the mintage is below 225K (not a high chance), you will see price stabilize. Things should be leveling out by Spring 2013. IF the US Mint going to have another RP then the market will be very interesting... On another note: The price for 2006 raw set had come off a bit, the last couple set sold on ebay for around $300 (it was close to $400 at one point, I think when they announce the 2012 set). If the final mintage of the 2012 set go below 250K, we should see the price for 2006 set drop a little bit more..... I'll be waiting to buy a raw set and/or a 70-set in NGC 3-coins-in-one holder.

The 2011 raw set is taking a hit too theyve been down in the 500-600 range lately. Everything seems to be going down right now, good time to buy.
My theory is the slabbed 70 prices should hold maybe increase, but the influx of RPs and special sets is going to erode the premiums the raw 06 and 11 sets once enjoyed. The 12 doesn't really apply since the premium is non existent, youd actually be losing money for the price theyre selling right now after the shipping and the fees.

Due to the different finish on the 2006, that will be collectible in itself. For someone dabbling the series, I can see the desire to get 2006 and 2012 instead of 2012 alone, given similar money. I know that flies in the face of low mintages and all, however the 2006 finish is pre-laser blast (or whatever they call it), and having both finishes would be great to display.

Thats very true about the different finishes. I would wonder though how many people just dabbling in the series would know that.
The other thing I forgot to add aside from everything being down I wonder if people just finally figured out for the 06 and 11 set that if you just got the RPs and the S coin from the 11 you could put together sets cheaper than the full sets used to sell for

But remember: Time = money, many may not have thought of or don't have the time to do that. OR, like me, I just don't like the thought that my my set is an assembly of non original set.... that's hard for me to weed out which is the case if I am to buy the raw set. That's why I'm leaning toward getting the graded set (I like the NGC 3-coins holder).

I saw a raw 2006 set for $300 and "almost" bought, but the idea I could never get it graded as a set bugged me.

At least you did get a 70.
Someone who sent in a set (unopened I assume) got a RP that was a 64 from PCGS. Someone also got a 68+ for the S proof, why you would use the + service for a modern coin is beyond me

Quote: Someone also got a 68+ for the S proof, why you would use the + service for a modern coin is beyond me + attached to a grade is not a "service". A coin graded 68+ is essentially a 68 with superior eye appeal. http://www.pcgs.com/grades.htmlMS/PR-68 Virtually as struck with slight imperfections, slightest weakness of strike allowed MS/PR-68+ Virtually as struck with very slight imperfections, the strike must be virtually full. Eye appeal must be very good. You don't get a choice on the grade. A 68+ coin is better than a plain 68, but it's of little consolation where thousands of coins were graded and nearly all of them are 69 or better.

Unless theyve changed it you have to use the secure + service to get the plus designation just like you have to pay to have varieties attributed

I have got a couple Morgans back from PCGS with + grades before without paying for the secure plus service. Also, there are many holders with plus grade that are in standard PCGS holders, which leads me to conclude that indeed, + grades are issued regardless of using/paying for secure plus. Also, the submitter has no choice wether or not the coin receives a plus grade.
