1. Mercury dime2. Indian head half/quarter eagle 3. Draped bust cent/half cent 4. Buffalo nickel5. Sacagawea dollar (gasp! a modern snuck in there) The walker and St.G$20 would probably be 6 and 7. I never cared for the standing lib. quarter.

I really can't argue with the top 5 list. Isn't it interesting that all 5 were made concurrently. These designs were so much nicer than putting dead presidents on coins now. I also really like the draped bust design and the reverse of the $20 liberty.

Although I love the SLQ, in truth I find the design to be kind of clunky. I've never understood what the two cabinets on either side of Liberty are supposed to be. The whole thing just doesn't make visual sense.

I always felt the Morgan was one of the ugliest. That is one homely woman on the obverse, at least I think it's supposed to be a woman.

52Raymo, I totally agree with you on the Morgan$. When I first started collecting them back in the 1960's I thought it was a Man and didn't realize it wasn't for awhile. One Ugly Woman! But, the actual details of the coin are quite nice. I'm a Morgan collector, big time, but as to the Woman portrayed, bad model.

Quote: When I first started collecting them back in the 1960's I thought it was a Man and didn't realize it wasn't for awhile. I have to agree. Other than it being 90% silver, I did not find the Morgan dollar appealing, especially when the more attractive Eisenhower dollar was available.

Don't know if that's tonque in cheek JBuck but I would say, Yes, Eisenhowers profile is more attractive than Morgans model.

Or in other words, give him some hair, a cap, and the other details on the Morgan Obverse and the two would look about the same.

Sooo ... appears that you fine folks are not biting on my bid for the Oregon Trail half ... so how about the Hudson, NY half .... Where else in USA coinage history is there an image of Neptune riding a whale (Neptune backwards) while a mermaid blows on a conch shell? C'mon folks ... show some love for the greatest USA coin series ever ... the classic silver commemoratve set. David
