Hi!

Does anyone here know the story behind the "Family of Eagles Ltd" slabs? I saw APMEX selling gold coins in those cases and there's a bunch of 1998 Titanic Maple Leaf in this case on ebay.

Did they have an exclusivity on those coins or they just took some and put them in their slab?

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

When the RCM began accepting orders for struck-by-contract privy-marked gold and silver maple leafs back in 1997, Dillon Gage was one of the first private firms to place an order. They contracted for two 1/10th ounce $5 gold MLs, one in 1997 with a small human "Family" privy and one in 1998 with a small "Eagle Family" privy. In 1998, they also contracted for a Titanic privy mark on the one-ounce silver ML.

In each case, the coins were encapsulated and sold at the time by Dillon Gage. APMEX must have bought a group of these on the secondary market and is now selling them. APMEX has not put them in the slabs, they came that way originally 14-15 years ago.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the reply.

Do you know what's the link with Dillon Gage and the "Family of Eagles, Ltd." written on the case?

Also, did Dillon Gage had all the mintage of the 1998 Titanic coins? I saw some on ebay with RCM wrapping!
