Quote: from a % increase perspective silver(Ag) has the greatest possibility to exponentially increase Above are my comments posted in this thread as of 8/21/12 when silver was approximately $ 29.33/oz. At 9 AM EST, 9/28/12 silver was at $ 34.88/oz. This 16 % monthly increase represents an approximate rise of almost 195% on an annualized basis if recent events continue as they currently are proceeding. Below is my explanation(second comment down on this 8/22/12 CCF thread) regarding what I think is really going on with metals: https://goccf.com/t/127504&SearchTe...dia,increasewhich is further supported by recent evidence from Israel PM Netanyahu's recently(9/27/12) drawn red line in the sand: Hopefully, inserting items like the above are not contrary to CCF policies since my explanation is not intended to be political but instead meant to justify the ‘hoarding' (the primary theme of this thread) of silver coins at this point in history. In summary whether one feels Netanyahu's action is justified or not it will nevertheless serve to further exacerbate an already fragile US economy. And as everyone should realize silver and gold have traditionally always been safe havens when political uncertainty abounds... IMHO mdpmedia

Wish I had more access to Ikes or any really non PNDQ. The one bank says they never have them the other seemed like she would be royally irritated having to find them. (When I asked for even PNDQ she had to get on her hands and knees or something behind the counter under another teller's station and it took her forever to get them out so I am guessing they arent even sorted, they just pile them in there when people turn them in. .

I'm currently hoarding AU-50 and MS-63 Tennessee State Quarter Dollars. Reason being is that they were the only State Quarters in my 2011 bluebook that was higher priced than any other. $0.30 and $0.40 compared to $0.25 and $0.30 respectively. I figure that says enough to hoard them. Or just gave me another reason to save some money back.

I have set aside a coin that I feel has an interesting past and and interesting future. I am talking about the 2004 D Roosevelt dime with the Curved Image or also known as the Doubled Ear variety. I took me over 7 years to acquire one. Mintage is unknown. This coin is written up in the CherryPickers Guide and is mentioned as a possible Denver Mint employee die handy work just like the intentional creation of the 2004 D Wisconsin Extra Leaf Statehood Quarters. Time will tell...

For bullion coins I love gold eagles and I also have a decent amount of pre-1982 cents for their copper. For numismatic coins I love getting a new roll of different coins each year (like a BU roll of 2012 dimes, BU roll of 2012 pennies, etc.), over time I've got quite some new shiny rolls of coins from different years.

There have been some real good responses to this topic. The ones that make the most sense to be are (in no particular order): Dollars: Eisenhower, Susan B Anthony, Sacajewa. You really don't see them in circulation and you can still get suitable coins at face from the local banks. Nickels: The 2004 and 2005 are also good candidates for hoarding. 2009 coinage: From what I can recall about these it was either the nickels or dimes that the mint quit stamping them out sometime in either April or May. Copper pennies - you can never tell, but frum my limited sxperience I keep looking back to 80's when everyone was saying that the Hunt Brothers cornered th silver market and then one day we woke up and silver coinage was had to come by. It still is. Wheat back pennies - the are fast going the way of the Indian Head cent. I rarely find them when I'm looker for copper. In fact to date I have recovered only one half of one percent wheat back coins to total coins searched. It's become more of an oddity when I come across one of them in circulation.
