Could those fake 10p actually be genuine coins that have been through a dryer? Do a search for Dryer Coin as you'll see what I mean. They may well be fake of course! A picture of the edges would be interesting.

I think that the 10p's are Dryer Coins not fakes. and in the earlier post fake 50p to me it looks like a drain coin,as I knew a few guys who work on cleaning out the public grids/drains and a lot of coins I would get from them looked like that 50p yours michael

You could be right Michael. Though I thought the edges look odd and there seem to be differences between the cloth folds to Britannia's dress on my coin and a 'real' one. The weight is about right so no indication either way there.
Anyway, it's sat in my 'oddities' drawer for a day when I have time to inspect it better. By which time it might be worth so little as to be not worth spending. Or de-monetised!

I had a shop in Liverpool UK for 12 years and bought buckets of drain/sewer coins, when the local council guys went around cleaning out the grids and repairing the sewers they would bring in a bucket or two of coins, I've had sovs and half sovs also most worn away. The coins just lie there untouched for years getting washed over by water and sewage and always go brown /black colour.

That's a 50p I would definitely say is a fake. Currently on ebayReceived a 'nice' unusual fake pound the other day. New shield reverse, but used a reworked 1998 jersey-style obverse. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

The seller of the 50p hasn't got a grasp of basic English.

Good work! I've always wanted to include a section of UK coinage on The Black Cabinet, but it looks like you're doing a better job than I could. :-)
