Lets see I have a 1977 5 Balboa from Panama wth a mintage of 9,548. I have a 1893 Isabella Quarter mintage of 24,214 I have a 1900 Lafayette dollar with a mintage of 36,026 Also have a graded 1942-P PF-66 only 27,600 were minted. Wonder how many are left? I have 2, 1914 Barber halfs only 124,230 were minted in 1914. Got a couple 1913 Barber halks mintage of 188,000. I guess it all depends on what RARE means to the guy doing the collecting. How many great old coins were deposited in the melting pot when silver closed in on 50 bucks an oz? and the last time silver was high how many coin collections were sold and melted? IMHO many coins that the mintage dosent look low or rare, in fact today are RARE. \just my Two Cents worth, interesting post and the comments are great reads.

Based on the survival estimate my rarest coin is an 1840-O No Drapery Liberty Seated quarter. PCGS estimates that 900 out of a mintage of 382,200 have survived to the present.

Probably some of my Colonials but known estimates for survivability would be my 1871-CC Half (approx. 350 known all grades) I have a fractional gold piece that's really low too.

Other than the odd proofs here and there I suppose my rarest would be the triumvirate of Early Commemorative Half Dollars. The Hudson New York Sesquicentennial, The Old Spanish Trail, and the Hawaiian Sesquicentennial. Each had a mintage of 10,008.

Oh yes do, Small Eagle! The CCF members crave pictures of nice coins. Sharing the bounty is part of the game that we play here. Please let us drool ... at least drooling doesn't cost a lot! And please feel free to brag a little - we ALL brag a bit now and then!

Not the best picture as the coin is tilted in the holder, but take a look at the reverse and just how dramatic the die breaks are. I hope you enjoy it :)
