I have no trouble finding pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters from most of the local banks in my area. There is on that will not order halves under any condition. There are a number that will not order Ikes under the same limits. So for the most part I am limited to catching as catch can for Ikes. Usually in ones or twos, so I'm jealous of those of you who are still able to order any type of bags.

One of my pick up banks will supply halves but they come right from their cash vaults and have been heavily searched. However lately I've been able to score some rolls that have maybe one 90%. 2 or 3 40% and some NIFC. They also contain some heavily handled halves that get turned right back in for more coins to search.

Lately I've been into finding some righteous examples of dimes and have been scoring some rolls that are all current year production. I set a couple of these rolls aside for the future.

If not for me, for my kids or ?.

I went to the bank to ask for some dollar coins today. The teller told me she had a silver dollar, and I thought she'd meant an Eisenhower or an SBA. But when I received it, I was trying my hardest to contain myself...

congrats on the find! Could be a once in a lifetime, hopefully not. It happened to me too, once :-) What a great feeling to ask for large dollar coins and receive a Peace dollar!

Another haul of 20 Ikes today.
All dates except 1973, and all Denver mint. Includes both Bicentennial types.

There was also $10 in halves brought in by the same customer. All 1970s except a single 1992. No silver and no hole fillers.

First, yes, that is an Ike dollar and secondly, someone "did it" but not Jbuck. What you are looking at is called a "counter stamp".

Here is the story behind it,

Two separate Ike hauls today!

5 Ikes from a cashier at a gas station who knows I collect. 3x 1978, 1x 1976 Type 2, 1x 1971. Not sure on mint marks.

Then...

11 Ikes, all 1976D-Type 1. And they all look to be fresh out of mint sets. I'll definitey be able to pick out a nice example for my 20th century type set, and also upgrade my Dansco. Also thought about making one of them a pocket piece, since my original one was also a 1976D Type 1 Ike which I foolishly spent about 6 months ago. But the 2013 ASE I've been carrying lately has grown on me. We shall see.

Great

May I please ask you if they were peg legs?

May I also ask where you found the 11 IKEs?

One of the coin shops around Downtown has Ikes for $2 each, they all look MS or close to it when I last visited. What should I look out for?

Well I don't do varieties or errors (except the more obvious ones like the Type 1 & Type 2 Bicentennial Ikes or the Near Date/Far Date SBA$, and only because there's separate holes for them in the Dansco), so I wouldn't know what to look for.

Where I got them? One of my co-workers took them in a deposit, and then sold them to me. Most tellers hate having them in their coin tray. Fine with me!
