Nancy your first picture of the Barbados $5 looks a little blurry on my monitor, does it look like that on yours also. If it does you may need to mess with your focus or distance a little if you have no way to focus it.

Thanks Bryan. I dare say many of my pictures are slightly out of focus due to a combination of factors.

My own eyesight is not much chop, and when the coin or mylar is reflecting too much light, I tilt the scope until the light is barely on the edge of the coin and with the scope tilted in this manner, true focus over the whole coin can't happen. By doing this, I don't have to play around with external lighting, so for me it's just a time saving thing.

life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

An adjustable stand is definitely the way to go. I've even seen one that has an articulated arm.. But one that allows you to adjust the height from 0 to about 8 to 10 inches above the coin is required...

As far as the plastic guard on the end of the scope, it can be a nuisance for lighting, but the only time it bothers me is trying to get really close up shots, to capture details. But in those cases I simply flood the coin with light, either from the scope or external. I'm not concerned with color at that point I just want details. The plastic actually works for me in cases where I get up close detail shots because I can place the scope against the coin. And that helps steady the scope for focusing.

Just bought one of these USB cameras, and it should be arriving any day now.

Hopefully I'll be able to share some images of my collection with you all soon.

Congrats Can't wait to see them. Hope we can help out, initially there is a slight learning curve. Once you get past it you'll be a pro..

My advice when it arrives is to not mess with the settings too much or at all. It really works best set on default. For full coin photos the trick is learning to adopt to using the built in LED lights and/or an external LED lamp. You won't get better results with any other type of artificial lighting. Shoot against a black or white background.

For capturing really close up details, ones that require placing the scope almost against the coin, concentrate just on focusing and capturing the details. Don't worry too much about capturing the coins true color on these shots, or you'll go bonkers.

Yeah just reset to default and auto white balance... And what I do if the color seems to get off balance, just place a white or black sheet of paper under the lens to get the camera to readjust.

If you're able to, turn off the overhead lights and let the lights on the scope work. You'll be surprised.

That looks like the same one I paid only $26 for it. Why is this one $75? It doesn't come with the Nano clamp, flex arm or articulating arm stand. Those look like what I need for my scope and they would fit.

I spent three hours looking all over for the best one for the price, its not the same as the 26$ one and only reason one I got this one, is because it had alot of reviews and almost all good...plus can always return if it doesn't live up to them.....
