That's a good price, mine was $65 for the original one, but they've gone up a bit in price since then. The most recent one was $70. I suspect that the majority of these come out of the same Chinese factory. They all look so alike. In the KB image below, #1 is where the light control is, there's a tiny toothed wheel that adjusts the brightness plus On/Off function of the 8 Built in LED's. #2 is just the ‘cradle' that the barrel clips into to attach it to the stand, but I've never used mine while it's attached to the stand, it's just too touchy. A few pictures with some extra info. Barbados $5 1973 Obv 40mm Dia:Taken from height of 21cm. Original size 118KB, Cropped/resized to 95kb GB 1835 Third of a Farthing Obv 16mm Dia:taken from height of 7cm: Original size 126KB, Cropped/resized to 97kb Tiny gold Medallion Obv 10mm Dia:Taken from height of 3½cm Original size 99KB, Cropped/resized to 98kb Taking images of coins in 2x2's can be a nuisance because of the reflection and I used to try to use external sources of light, but it was taking way too much time, so now I just use the on board lighting and tilt the cup a little until the glare is basically off the edge of the coin. The image may not be a perfect circle, but I'm not too worried about that. Any questions fire away, I'm happy to help.

Harry213, sorry for the delay in my reply. I work nights and didn't get any free time to come back here and check for replies till now. I turned my email on in my ccf profile so I think you can email me now. If not, my email is my user name here on ccf @yahoo.com
Hopefully you can make me a file and email it to me. I've gone back and forth with customer service and they keep sending me a link to download the user manual and not the software. LOL Thanks again for the reply.

Okay it took a few attempts since neither CCF PM, nor my GMAIL allowed .EXE file attachments... Good thing I have an old Yahoo account So check for an email from me, titled USB Microscope files. I attached both, the hardware driver and capture software install files. Don't reply to the email since I never check my Yahoo. Let me know here I it worked..

Thanks Harry213, you are AWESOME !! I got the files you sent and they installed just fine. Now I can start playing with my usb microscope and learn how to use it. I really appreciate you sending me the files. I gave up with customer service and was going to return it till you helped me out. Their reply was the same every time and they kept sending me a link to download the user manual even though I told them over and over that I needed the software. LOL Thank You again for the help !!

My camera has the LEDs with the plastic 'cone' around them that I guess is supposed to send the light better. Problem is the LEDs do squat for me and I use outside lighting except then the problem is on shots where I am up close the plastic cone casts clear shadows that make the image look stupid. Wish I could find a way to remove the plastic cone without damaging it but I think its glued internally. :(

Try wiggling it back and forth, side to side. I did that with mine and it came right off.

Daniels, I kept looking around till I found the cheapest Lighthouse stand I could find including shipping. With those other ones that are cheap, you get what you pay for. I would be leary of the cheapo ebay ones.

Another thing I just noticed was the others are too short. With mine it's tall enough to get an entire silver dollar in the pic easily.

Nancy your first picture of the Barbados $5 looks a little blurry on my monitor, does it look like that on yours also. If it does you may need to mess with your focus or distance a little if you have no way to focus it

I see this one on Amazon.com. @52Raymo I found this one: Title: Lighthouse Stand for USB Coin & Stamp Digital Microscope Flexible Height Adjustment - DMST Link: http://www.amazon.com/Lighthouse-Di...p/B005NXB9V8Cost: $49.95 + $11.99 shipping Is that the cheapest you found for the lighthouse one? It looks really nice and simple. Ironic its twice the cost of the microscope but if its universal you can use it for something else later.

I think I saw one on ebay for around 43 bucks or so, free ship. You just have to look around ebay and Google that stand. You kind find good deals that way too.
